That alone might entice me to get the set right away.
Shit. I'm only in this for the 1990s trilogy. And a bit for his last film. I love the character but hate most of his films. But... I enjoy good special features even on films I don't like.

Gamera is a cool, but also weird even for a Kaiju hero, character. I just... man, he's a ****ing turtle badass that can fly. That's ****ing weird and cool cuz... turtle.

I generally like Matt Frank's art, but he is a comic book artist - and usually comic book art doesn't look that great as disc cover art. I suppose that a graphic novel is being included in this set makes it somewhat more justifiable.
On the other hand, his Gyaos art shown in the ScifiJapan article is pretty good and doesn't have that comic-book feel to it.

What throws me off the most is the logo though. It's pretty flat and looks like a logo from one of those old unauthorised Gamera DVD collections.

I have to agree, the cover art somehow isn't as striking as I maybe would have liked; but perhaps our opinions will change once better images emerge.
The "Old Gamera" artwork is pretty rad, though:

...And just like that, Gamera is the best seller in sci-fi Blu-ray on Amazon today. This is off to a good start!

So was Gamera: The Brave 4k remastered also? It appears on the Heisei 4k remastered boxset from Japan however the details Arrow give us says only the Heisei trilogy will be 4k remastered.

I never bothered with the very expensive (about $300US) 4K remastered Gamera 4 movie w/GTB Japanese Blu-ray box set from a few years ago as I've long had the first Japanese Heisei trilogy Blu-ray box (with the lenticular cover) but I've heard that the 4K remasters didn't look great. I can't imagine this will be yet another newer 4K remaster, so my question would be does anyone who splurged for the Japanese 4K remaster have any comments how good the trilogy looks on that release?

Any Arrow release that was released dual-territory simultaneously have always been A/B-locked. I don't see that changing.

The only time where the same releases have been locked to a single region is when one region gets it earlier than the other. And sometimes, that tends not to be the case either (the limited edition sets of Deep Red and Ringu come to mind when released in A).

Yeah, I'll pass on Diabolik. Not only do they charge you upfront for preorders, but when I did the Godzilla set I was told they ship preorders out before release so they would arrive no later than the actual release date. Well they shipped my Godzilla set out the Friday before release and it arrived 2 days after release. -_-

Uh what? Since when? Media Blasters was selling it at their booth for $20 back in August last year at the anime con I was at. They had a stack of about 30 copies.

But the juiciest part
"And we’ve got more tokusatsu releases lined up for later in the year too!”"

http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2...oC8KICyTFRyh2Y
What do they mean by "More Tokusatsu?" Like is Arrow saying they have more lined up or is it just Sci-Fi japan saying they have it lined up? I ask because Sci-Fi Japan covers everything (still want to know how they get news info first), so them saying it just means things like the upcoming Ultraman releases. If it's Arrow, then that is something major.

That’s more of a USPS problem than a DiabolikDVD problem to me.

Not really when Diabolik didn't ship it out early enough to get to me on time. In fact, when I inquired they told me there was no guarantee I would get it on the Day of Release. Thus, I will never order from them again unless they are my only option.

Yep. Whenever I order an Arrow Video release I get it 1-2 weeks early. With Scream Factory titles it can be 2-3 days early or the day before release. I buy from them a lot & never had a pre order arrive after release, especially Arrow titles.

Criterion isn’t Arrow either. I’ve always gotten Arrow releases ahead of street date. I presume Sony, who distributes Criterion, is pretty strict on the whole breaking street date thing. But hey, you do you. Good luck and hopefully you get yours before or on street and in pristine condition wherever you opt to buy it from.

Based on past history, that's highly unlikely though not exactly 100%

.
A/B Locked or Region Free is certainly the case in all except possibly a couple cases of a (near)simultaneous release. Often they even use the same disc with only the art work being minimally different. Even once the same disc played a very slightly censored/edited version of the movie depending on whether it was playing in a Region A or B player

So in what I'm reading it's both region a or b, I normally go for region b titles but if this has b it be easier for me to optain from USA. Or possible cheaper

Not "or" -- "and"

Most of the simul US/UK releases are coded A+B (sometimes C), not one or the other. The UK disc will play in the US, the US disc will play in EU/UK/AUS without having a modified player

Buy the cheaper version and 99+% of the time you're safe
