I actually just started playing this myself. Tried several times on the original release and just couldn't get to grips with it. I was enjoying it so far.
*edit* except for jumping vine to vine. It's atrocious. Last edited by dyne; 07-15-2022 at 12:44 PM. |

I've been postponing starting this for more than 10 years now.. maybe I'll give it a go after Metroid Dread
the thing is, I'm always in the mood for a 3D Zelda, but I get discouraged when I remember how they overstays their welcome Last edited by Talal86; 07-15-2022 at 02:34 PM. |

Almost gave up at the same point as the original motion control release. The first Ghirahim fight. Even with non-motion controls the combat isn't as fluid and as tight as it needs to be. I'll keep playing for now because I hate giving up on Zelda titles but I'm still struggling with the combat controls.

But for me it was still a godsend, that they finally added another controlling option besides motion controls. My left arm isn’t complete functional and I cannot use motion controls therefor regarding playing video games. For me it was always a strange move from Nintendo to offer only motion controls during their Wii era, especially in a timeframe were topics like inclusion became more and more prominent. If you only have motion controls and not also regular control options you exclude automatically anybody who cannot use its body 100%. It’s strangely a topic that isn’t brought up often and motion controls are often seen as more inclusive than if you have to use a controller. It’s also strange, that so many Nintendo Games still have not complete voice acting and rely very much on text. One would think that you want to avoid text, if your main demographic is younger children. After all I enjoyed Skyward Sword far more than I expected in the first place, because everybody mentioned it would be kind of the worst main Zelda Game ever. But so far I only played Breath of the Wild before, so I cannot really tell where Skyward Sword stands in the Zelda hierarchy. For me it wasn’t as amazing as BotW, but it also wasn’t that far away from it. You can see many topics and mechanics already been tried out in Skyward Sword, that afterwards would be really fleshed out later in BotW. Hope Wind Waker & Twilight Princess will also be finally released on the Switch. Would love to continue my Zelda Journey backwards in time on the Switch asap… Last edited by mep; 07-16-2022 at 06:13 PM. |

Exactly. I went back to Stray after playing the intro, and for a few minutes my mind was confused why the controls just 'work'
anyway, I'll stick with it longer and just swing the right analog stick and hope for the best ![]() traversing is a little better now, I learned to walk around while holding L (smh) also changed the camera speed to 'very fast', which is helping a bit. medium is painfully slow |

I just fought The Imprisoned for the third time, hopefully I’m close to beating this. boy does this overstays its welcome..
On the bright side, after ‘switching’ from handheld/joycons to docked/pro controller, the controls are much better, it went from barely functional to playable. not up to modern standards but still playable |

finally beat this.. **** this game. if I had to describe it in 3 words, Bloated, repetitive, exhausting. could've been a good game if half of the game was on the cutting floor
worst 3D Zelda, even though it had so many good parts, but they get lost in the shuffle |

This is the only mainline Zelda title I’ve never completed. I tried it on the Wii and it ended up being my last straw with that system. Outside of a few light gun style games like RE4 and HotD: Overkill I hated everything about Wii motion controls and this game was pretty much the perfect summation of everything I hated about it. I ended up selling the game and the system with no regrets and was happy to move on from that unhappy episode in the history of gaming.
Now that some time has passed I decided to pick this up in the recent sale and have been playing with the Pro Controller. A lot of the terrible design that was necessitated due to the Wii is still there, but it’s a much better experience now. It’s actually kind of exciting to have a entirely new Zelda game to play, but so far I’m only in the first dungeon so I’m hoping it doesn’t start to fall apart soon. But at least it looks nice, runs beautifully, and is finally playable. It’s just a shame that Nintendo had to be Nintendo and lock what should have been a big addition to the game behind that amiibo. |
