United Kingdom TV Schedule section on TPTV's website

A couple of weeks' worth of TV listings have been added to the TV Schedule section on TPTV's website. Thunderbirds continues up to and including late-November (am wondering though whether the channel is going to put the series on a break like they did with Fireball XL5).

Spotted a new (to TPTV) series starting in November (from the Southern Television vaults), Now for Nookie (starring Roger de Courcey and Nookie Bear). The first episode is airing on Saturday 11th November at 9.45 am - 10.15 am.

If more editions were made of it, I hope the channel shows further editions of documentary series Time to Remember (the last edition they showed recently was about famous people in the Thirties).

United Kingdom TV Schedule section on TPTV's website

Checked the TV Schedule section on TPTV's website earlier to see if they have put up a new week's worth of TV listings information a day early, and they have (up to and including Sunday 13th August).

Worth noting that the TV Schedule section has been updated as well with a new look (promotional pictures, screencaptures etc. from each TV programme, short, film short, film etc.). Regarding the row of dots, the one furthest to the right is the furthest day away.

Next week's update to the TV Schedule section should include Saturday 19th August with the first new (to TPTV) episode of In Suspicious Circumstances.

Will be checking out TPTV's YouTube channel/page. Thanks for posting in this thread the start date for TPTV's repeat run of Thunderbirds Cutback. Going by the (I assume) regular start time, it'll be following fellow Gerry and Sylvia Anderson series Fireball XL5 on Saturday afternoons.

Checked the TV Schedule section on Talking Pictures TV's website earlier, and they've put up a new week (from Monday 28th August to Sunday 3rd September).

The first episode of Thunderbirds ("Trapped in the Sky") will be airing at 3 pm - 4.05 pm. Noticed that Fireball XL5 appears to be going on a break after the Saturday before (26th August) with the episode "Planet of Platonia" (episode 13).

Going to make the most of these last few episodes of In Suspicious Circumstances on TPTV, as if the show did originally run on ITV (apparently different episodes were shown in different ITV regions) between 1991 and 1996, then based on the three new (to TPTV) episodes being shown between Saturday 19th August and Saturday 2nd September having a copyright year of 1996, there can't be many more left that TPTV will be showing.

United Kingdom The Footage Detectives (Series Four start date)

Not totally sure yet, but based solely on some or all of the synopsis for the editions being shown on Sunday 3rd and 10th September respectively (source: the TV Schedule section on TPTV's website), the new series of The Footage Detectives (the fourth) may be starting on either of those two Sundays on the channel (Sunday 3rd September would make sense, as that would be the day after TPTV's repeat run of Thunderbirds starts).

United Kingdom TV series and serials on TPTV

Alongside Fireball XL5 (which is going on a break after this coming Saturday afternoon, returning later in the year), Black Saddle and In Suspicious Circumstances, have been watching on TPTV recently late-seventies TV serial Dick Barton: Special Agent (word of warning though, if like me you suffer with vertigo etc., fast-forward through the title sequence at the beginning and don't watch the end credits).

Dick Barton: Special Agent is part of the Southern Television library, alongside Tell Me Another and Together (among others (Runaround as well?). Surprised there isn't a copyright year at the end of the end credits.

I spotted that Talking Pictures TV are showing The Caller with Malcolm McDowell on Sat 9th of Sept at 9.30pm. I picked up the VS bluray some time ago and had a good time with this movie. It plays like an extended Twilight Zone episode but there is enough intrigue to keep you watching and its rather short too.Definite thumbs up from me!

United Kingdom In Suspicious Circumstances

Talking Pictures TV's repeat run of In Suspicious Circumstances finishes a week on Saturday (see the post in this thread five posts before this one). Whether it was the last episode made or/and shown on ITV in it's various local regions, or is the last episode which has been made available to TPTV, I don't know. But it's not in the channel's listings for Saturday 30th September (six further episodes in total).

Last Saturday evening's episode was pretty good (both stories/cases had an occult/supernatural theme), like the "Woman in Grey" story/case in the episode shown the Saturday before.

United Kingdom Melvyn's Talking Pictures and Talking Pictures with Sir Michael Parkinson

Thought I'd missed posting about the start of a new series on TPTV of Melvyn's Talking Pictures (remembering last Sunday's weekly email newsletter). But having checked the TV Schedule section on TPTV's website, it appears I haven't. A new series starts on the channel a week tomorrow (Thursday 5th October) at 3 pm, where Melvyn Hayes introduces a late-thirties drama film called Victoria the Great, followed by the film at 3.10 pm - 5.30 pm. After this, Melvyn previews the film being shown the following Thursday afternoon (the late-thirties comedy film Cheer Boys Cheer).

Also airing a week tomorrow is "Talking Pictures with Sir Michael Parkinson" (recorded from the TPTV Festival which took place earlier this year), premiering on the channel at 7.25 pm - 8 pm.

Source: Sky TV listings, the TV Schedule section on Talking Pictures TV's website and TV & Satellite Week (Saturday 30th September to Friday 6th October, 2023).

Default Dixon of Dock Green

Evening all!

Allowing for the poor quality of the recording (remembering its a miracle the episode still exists at all!), the first Dixon of Dock Green was better than I expected. Although the conclusion was extremely obvious and predictable, the story itself was enjoyable and the suspicions poisoning the household were well played.

Apparently, the next episode features Paul Eddington (presumably just before his regular run as "actor in a different part each week" in season 2 of Robin Hood).

Apparently, the episode after that features Kenneth Cope (Marty Hopkirk himself!) in a very early role.

Looking forward to both.

PS According to this week's sunday newsletter they will be showing Out of Town starting in February (presumably another part of the Southern TV catalogue they seem to have licensed along with Worzel Gummidgr etc)

There are three TV series which may have aired before on Talking Pictures, which were mentioned in yesterday's weekly email newsletter (I subscribed again and received the newsletter like normal (I don't recall unsubscribing (could have been an issue on TPTV's side of things):

That Beryl Marston! (starring Julia McKenzie, this started today (the second episode is airing next Monday afternoon (22nd January) at 4 pm - 4.30 pm). Six episodes in total)
Spearhead (starts this coming Friday (19th January) at 1 am - 2 am)
and Take a Letter, Mr. Jones (the cast including John Inman and Rula Lenska (six episodes in total), that starts this coming Thursday (18th January) at 6.40 am - 7.10 am).

A new week was added to the TV Schedule section on TPTV's website late last week. A series called Sally Ann is starting soon (Friday 2nd February at 0.30 am - 1 am).

A new season of The Cellar Club starts on Friday 2nd February (mentioned in yesterday's newsletter). The first two films being shown in the new season are They Live (directed by John Carpenter with a cast that includes Roddy Piper) and Don't Look in the Basement.

A late-seventies documentary is airing on the channel soon, called Ruth Ellis and the Mystery Lover. I found it in the listings for Sunday 4th February at 10.05 pm - 11.40 pm. Couldn't see it on an earlier day in the listings.

Airing on TPTV this coming Wednesday afternoon (17th January) at 2.25 pm - 3 pm is Talking Pictures Meets Susan Hampshire CBE (recorded at one of TPTV's weekend festivals).

Thanks for the Ruth Ellis documentary mention. I need to watch that as I often mention it to my students when discussing the death penalty.

No problem. My mind is a bit foggy as to where I first read that TPTV were going to be showing it (it was recently). But I had seen it in the TV Schedule section on their website recently (when a new week had been added). The channel doesn't show a lot of documentaries about real life murder cases (In Suspicious Circumstances was a series shown on the channel which was about cases from decades ago and further back).

In Suspicious Circumstances - a memory from my childhood. Love Edward Woodward, the theme tune and the format. Have it on series record on Sky. Surprisingly not available even on DVD!

Sally Ann is another Southern TV production. 8 episode drama from 1979 about Salvation Army members including Sam Kydd(inevitably!) and Stephanie Cole (the black widow from Open All Hours etc).

Have watched the first two surviving episodes of Dixon of Dock Green shown on TPTV so far. I enjoyed the second episode more ("The Rotten Apple"). The bit at the very end when Jack Warner spoke to the camera in character, that was different in each episode? I haven't seen any of this series before.

Out of Town was mentioned during the latest new edition of What's on TPTV with Noel (first shown on the channel yesterday). It starts on Monday 5th February at 6.30 pm - 7 pm (I checked the TV Schedule section on the website earlier and a new week of TV listings has been put up, going up to and including Sunday 18th February. Double-checked and that's when the first edition TPTV are showing is being first shown).

Premiering on TPTV this coming Saturday afternoon/evening (27th January) at 5.45 pm - 7.05 pm is late-thirties British crime drama film The Green Cockatoo (the cast including Sir John Mills).

Two films I recorded.

The Bedroom Window 1987 - cropped from 2.35:1 to 1.78:1. Not a good look.

The Race for the Yankee Zephyr 1981 aka Treasure of... was in the correct ratio 2.35:1. It was decent enough.
