I’m surprised by how many people here enjoyed it.
My wife and I were bored. I didn’t find it funny at all. I kept watching though hoping it would get better. My 10 year-old daughter somehow liked it, but she wasn’t laughing at any of the “funny” parts. My wife walked out about halfway through and said “I just can’t watch this” haha. She wasn’t a fan of the original one though (nor my daughter) whereas I am. I won’t be putting this in my regular Christmas rotation though. 5/10 |

Anyone hear/know of any news in regards to a physical media release for the movie?
I know that a DVD release for 8-Bit Christmas came about a year or so after it debuted on HBO Max, so I assume next holiday season would be a time frame for when it would be released (if it does). |

I would definitely love to see a Blu-ray release down the line for these HBO Max exclusive movies, including 8-Bit Christmas. If we got at least that for a release I would be happy, but DVD? Not sure why Warner is only sticking with that for them. Maybe Warner Archive will pick them up? Kind of doubt it since they seem to focus on older titles.

My theory that this is only a DVD release, maybe because this movie was made for the average tv audience and maybe Warner knew that the average audience still prefers DVD over anything HD? Physical media is a niche market anyway so they figure most fans of this movie wouldn’t care to buy a BD release. Still I think at least a DVD/BD combo? Maybe my theory is wrong.

I agree, there shouldn’t even be separate DVD and blu ray releases at this point, should just be a single combo pack release (plus 4K release on “bigger” movies)

The easiest, fastest and cheapest way to get a movie authored onto a disc is usually DVD, so that is what WB seems to have done for now.
I'm surprised it's on disc at all, and will buy this on sale soon. Never saw it as was not planning to subscribe to any pay service for 1 or two movies unless they're amazing films. A Christmas Story was a classic because of Ralphie, his brother and parents. A Summer Story was decent, but missing some key characters. Charles Grodin was good though. The story wasn't as good either. Christmas Story Christmas, so far generally average reviews, once again not able to repeat the magic of the first classic. But still worth a watch hopefully. Will check it out on DVD soon. Blu ray would've been nice. |

The huge hole in this sequel was no Jean Shepherd. But at least Peter Billingsley tried to place as much memories from the original. I watched a Summer Story and the Christmas Story 2 and they were only one watch movies for me. On another note, Walmart has Christmas Story Christmas if you don’t want to wait for Amazon.

I watched this on DVD, today. I thought that it was quite good. They did the best they could with characters so deeply a part of our zeitgeist. While it doesn’t propel us onto a continuing franchise it does give us some level of ‘whatever happened to’ closure. I’m glad that I bought it. And will likely include it on my Christmas roster every year or two.

I also finally saw this a few weeks ago. Only scene I laughed at aloud was the snowman surprise. That was great. The film is interesting and I did like it. Also to just see these characters in a "What would they be like years later?" scenario.
Jean Shepherd's voice was missing though, but it made sense that Ralph's voice would be the narration now. They did take time with the story, which was interesting. The humor, I think they could've used a comedian in there or something. Vince Vaughn (a comedian actor) I think was a producer along with Peter Billingsley. Directed by Clay Kaytis Screenplay by Nick Schenk Clay Kaytis Story by Nick Schenk Peter Billingsley Based on In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash by Jean Shepherd Produced by Irwin Zwilling Marc Toberoff Cale Boyter Jay Ashenfelter Peter Billingsley Vince Vaughn Starring Peter Billingsley Erinn Hayes Scott Schwartz R. D. Robb Ian Petrella Zack Ward Julie Hagerty |
