For whatever reason, sensing between the lines, I'm not expecting anything soon, maybe one more pairing before the end of the year. Might be my id kindly trying to suppress my feverish excitement.

Hoping we get two more pairs before the year is out...

I'm really stoked to get another announcement asap. We're posited smack-dab in the thick of his catalog, with some major fan-favorites imminently in line for the 4k lottery, still in the wings. Some of the more popular and highly anticipated works still awaiting a possible/probable uhd are steeped in the additional uncertainty of what "best remaining elements" might be available for a new 4k scan. The anticipation here is brutal for the more hardcore Rollin fans among us. Indictor, you've kicked open Pandora's Box here, thankfully, and now we need our fix again, please! It's well time to feed the uhd beast.

I feel your enthusiasm and am smitten with these films as well. They've also gotten me interested in other Indicator releases.

Yeah I was wondering on the next batch. We have only had two this year, and nothing is coming till after August at the earliest so they have slowed down. Can’t see us getting two more pairs before the end of the year as they will be too condensed and you know how people moan

La morte vivante has some striking similarities. In this one, the protagonist is brought back from the dead by a toxic spill. She is taken care of by a friend with whom they recall their past and their childhood. So here the motif of memory regained comes into play once again. An important difference here (and this film's most moving aspect) is that the protagonist here gradually realises the kind of monster she has now become.

A very haunting and melancholic film, spoiled a bit by some gratuitous gore, which might make this one preferable for some, but prevents it from reaching the same heights as Night of the hunted in my opinion. The ending is really magnificent and one of Rollin's best, having a tragical inevitability and a unique combination of savagery and tenderness.

Also, Les Paumées du petit matin is another atypical Rollinade beyond a fantastique framework: a road movie involving two girls, one them catatonic, who escape a mental institution. This one reminds me of Rivette. One Rollin's most heartfelt and emotional films, certainly among my favourites, and could have been one of his best with a more tight construction (for instance, the Lahaie sequence here feels to me superfluous and the film might have been better without it).

Oh, and watch out for Rose de fer (not resembling Hunted in particular, but a masterpiece without equal)!

By the way, the old Encore DVD set of La morte vivante included the soundtrack, which may not be as nice or effective on its own, like some Pierre Raph scores are, but was a nice bonus nonetheless. Along with the Encore dVD of Les demoniaques, this is another one I won't be parting with..

It would be great if Indicator would consider including a couple of CD soundtracks as extras in some of the upcoming sets to complete the collection. Not sure why soundtrack CDs do not seem to be popular with most collectors in these forums, but I always appreciate it when Blue Underground or Severin (for instance) include them, even at an increased cost.

Our 4K UHD editions of Lips of Blood, Fascination, The Night of the Hunted and Shiver of the Vampires have sold out in the US.

UK editions of all four (with identical region-free discs and books; just minor localised differences on the outer packaging) are still available for now.

As ever, they'll be followed by standard editions later this year, but these won't include the books.
