With there not being an extended or original ending version, will you be buying it in 4K?

I doubt it tbh, Dominion was really boring and the trailers for this didn't really do much for me. I've also stopped buying new 4K's (since the HMV 20% code died) instead waiting for a price drop or a multi buy offer, so i'm way behind on new releases. As you know, new blu rays go into offers quite soon but 4K's take forever. By the time Rebirth ends up in a multi buy 4K offer. we'll probably have its sequel out on 3D blu ray lol. Seriously though, since adopting this approach, i'm not only saving a lot of money, it actually allows more time for a potential better (3D) version to get released.

Yeah, since the 20% offer stopped I have cut down on new releases too, this one I figure is bound to get an eventual disc release unless Universal want to be as averse to making money from their 3D content as Disney, Sony and Warners are. If it doesn't, I won't mind never watching the film again or waiting until it's 50p or a pound in the charity shop. That's where I bought Dominion in 2D (for the slipcover).

Yeah I'm just waiting for the Turbine. No accidental double dipping this time. I'll stream a rental soon. If a few years from now there's no 3D release then I'll get the UHD.

I'm not buying it in 2D. 3D or no sale.

I like ALL the movies including Dominion, hoping Turbine can work their magic with this one.

I watched this in 3D on my Vision Pro last night and thought the 3D was decent but very mild for most of the movie, especially the first 45 minutes
[Show spoiler]before they reach the island
. There are a few standout scenes with decent depth and dimensionality (listed a few examples below), but I can't help but think the 3D team was way too conservative with this conversion -- there are some scenes where I struggled to notice any 3D separation, and the dark and grainy look of many scenes in the movie certainly didn't help. There were plenty of missed moments for pop-outs: I would have expected some pop-out effect for moments like a dinosaur tail whipping towards the screen, but there was none of that.

Some standout 3D moments with good depth:

[Show spoiler]
  • Boat scene towards the beginning the movie where Scarlett Johansson shoots a dart at the Mosasaurus.
  • Encounter with the Titanosaurus herd in the open field.
  • T-rex attack on the river.
  • Repelling down huge cliffs near waterfalls.
  • Mutadons hunting the family in the convenience store and following them through underground tunnels.

Other than these scenes and a few others, the movie is basically as flat as a pancake. Still, it's worth watching in 3D, but don't expect this to be a demo-worthy 3D movie. Hopefully Turbine will be able to release it on disc at some point.
