I just wanted to add, I think more mods and a stricter rule policy would change the forum for the better but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Boy, I spent more time logging into the web than you got alive...

Seriously, while I'm sure that there are those here who are typing their first message on a message board EVER, there are those with low post counts that have modded and closed high-member boards many times over.

While I agree with the 'throw more mods at the problem' solution, the real issue is that there are just too many members and the board is such that it permitted the now offending behavior for so long, that removing it is next to impossible.

People's post counts were boosted with the "MIcR0SUX!@! supp-ROTS HD-DUD gayness with red-ant fanBABY profit mongering nazi-like TAKEOVER unethical practicess RRODD!!!!! HAHAHAH!!!!oneoneoeneon!@!!@" type posts, which still flood the board now. During the 'war' that was well and good, beause people were venting frustrations and this became a haven for those who were behind Blu Ray. Battle cries and pro-blu propaganda may have been annoying as well as entertaining, but at least it wasn't the masses getting dumped on by the HD-DVD supporters.

Now that the 'war' is over, people want the tone to shift because it's over. During the 1800's the North didn't go on a hunt to kill Southerners; the war was over it was time to move on and unite. Sure, some people held grudges and wouldn't let even the smallest thing go.

What's going on here, is exactly that: Many want to move on and move past the arguing over which is better, but there are PLENTY of people here who want to keep it going because they enjoyed the fight.

Setting up a separate section of the board where 'mature' people can talk, will only make the main board unbearable. I guarantee that too much emphasis will be placed on that new section to make sure that the people in it are worthy, and not enough emphasis will be put on the main board to reign that in.

However, if the mods want a private section, then just make a hidden section of the board and invite who they want and do it quietly. I'm sure they'll have no problem figuring out how to make a board that's hidden from the public...

Does it matter? It looks like the above was in good fun, but I think the point is if you don't care to discuss the topic, stop posting. No big deal. The maturity level on this board ranges from none to 17th century English high tea and we're trying to figure out a way to keep established members who are looking for a more informative board. Many, including insiders, are thinking of stepping away because of this shift. Those who like it here want to find a way to halt this if we can and become a better leader in all things Blu.

Ookie, have you heard anything from a Mod over PM on this topic? I notice one hasn't checked in here yet..

I see nothing that says the mods have even looked at that thread (or this one for that matter)

That's all this board needs. Stricter moderation.

Appoint a few extra mods. Hell, I'll be a mod.

Personal attacks and people spamming the boards with redundant questions/statements should be dealt with.

That guy would be me, and thanks for correcting the fact that I am not a mod. I've already seen plenty of examples of things that need to be cleaned up, just in the past day. However, I noted one example in the above-mentioned thread. Less than 15 minutes later, the thread was gone.

I think that if one has issue with the threads, or the posts, that for the time being, the "report post" button is working quite well. A "cleanup button" (I just thought is was funny in the "Cleanup on Aisle 7! Any available custodian to Aisle 7!") would probably be a bit better, if the whole thread needs to be toasted or closed.

"The Illuminati" do a good job of cleaning everything up. I was just brainstorming on ideas to better facilitate that cleanup. Admittedly, some of my initial ideas do not seem so good (Ideas 2 and 3 in the thread). But at least it is getting attention.

Ya i think its a good idea also. And im a ways from making it in if you have to have a few hundred post. But i do think it would be nice to have a clean board to go to thou.Where you dont have to see the same post day after day.

The fact that a regular member would mention/take poll of this is a proactive way to find means to improve our site. Kudos to you on this note. its not everyday you see someone take the initiative.

Like a "members only" forum, where adults can post.
I do not mean like a forum with porn conversations or anything, but a forum where you have to agree to things before you are allowed in, have to have a set amount of posts under your belt and if you post "guys when are we getting the matrix????" or "zomg paramount is secretly against blu ??!!!" then you are no longer allowed to post in there.
If you post "zomg this guy at bobsbaitshackandhighdefnews.com said that hd dvd was cheated by blu here is the link!!!" back to the kiddie board.
If you post "lets make a petition for Jumanji on blu!!!" then back to the main board for you.

I know that there are many many many people on this board that feel the same and would enjoy the chance to have a small less cluttered playground.
And then the rest of the board can continue on and as people decide to enter the other section they are welcome to it.
Very good idea. Also include kids who use the term "HD-DUD" ...
