The 1910 uses the basic anchor bay video processor to upscale analog to digital. It is not that impressive but it is worth using in my opinion.

quick question re setup if anyone can help out? setting up my 1910 last night and have my HD Sateliter box connected to Sat/Cbl HDMI in.. thats fine.. but my audio from the Sat box is optical toshlink.. so i have that connected to optical 1 (or 2 cant remember which) in..

How do i configure the 1910 to take the video from the HDMI and the audio from the optical in?

Cheers,
Mick

yup got my 3808ci since it first came out dec 08 and its an awesome receiver enough power to drive hungry power speakers just like mfarnswoth said1!! im thinking of upgrading to 4803 due to it has 2 hdmi out so i dont have to get a switcher for the plasma and the projector since its being replace with the 4310ci i could probably get it cheaper.......

I am not following...the HDMI connected from your cable box to the Denon will carry both the video and the audio. There is no need to run a HDMI cable and a fiber optic. You need to change the Sat/Cbl audio to HDMI 1 or whatever input you have in plugged in to.

Am I hearing you correctly?

the problem i have is that my sat box does Dolby Digital 5.1 for movies etc - but it only transmits 5.1 over optical.. it only transmits up to Dolby Digital 2.0 over the HDMI connection.. crazy implementation i know..

anyhow got sorted.. changed the input assigns to pick up tv optical in when on sat/cbl hdmi connection and it works,,

cheers,
mick

i have the AVR-2808ci and i've been really happy with it. I have a 7.1 Def Tech set up and the Denon really makes my speakers sing! best part is-since i work at Best Buy i got it brand new 6-7 months after it got discontinued for $299 because my manager hooked me up to get rid of it (retail had dropped to $599 on it but i still managed to get it for a lot less). 2 HDMIs but for what i paid for it-i cant complaint! plus im getting an HDMI switcher from work for $20 which will help me add more hdmi stuff to my set up

The 4310ci is the replacement for the 3808ci. The 4810ci is the replacement for the 4308ci. Both of the new versions have 2 HDMI out also. You should be able to find a great deal on the 4308 as the 4810 is almost here. I would mention that the new ones also have audyssey DSX . All are nice though, good luck!

I have a brand new 4308ci that I will not be using. I have all the accesories and the store receipt if anybody is interested. I'd like $1200. Just bought it this summer but decided to go with a Pio Sc-07.

Hi Guys,

Few questions about the 1910 -

I ran Audessy setup last night - what are the six listening positions it asked to measure from? The main listening position is simple enough - thats where i sit most - but what are the other 5? Do i just move around to other points in the room where people might/can sit? I measure from 2 positions and it came up with some interesting figures - i plan on re running again this week once i can figure out the other positions to measure from! I've attached a simple plan layout of the room with main listening position outlined if anyone could clarify.

2) Multi EQ, Dynamic Volume, Dynamic EQ - things sound better with Multi Eq and Dynamic EQ on - is that what most people leave theirs at? I read in reviews of the 1909 that Dynamic Volume is best switched off?

3) Volume - what do people usually listen at? I know this will be matter of prefference but interested to see what people think - around -20 to -30 is the range I can go to..

Cheers,
Mick

I only use Dynamic Volume for tv watching. I use Multi Eq & Dynamic Eq for Blu-ray & Dvd watching.

So the only diff b/n the 790 and 1910 is that the 790 has a plastic face, whereas the 1910's is metal?
