Just wanted to let people know that I'm glad I did. True, it didn't come with a transfer cable, but I can wait a couple of days until they send it to me (if you only buy the HDD, then the transfer cable comes with it, otherwise MS will send it to you). Anywho, on to the reason why I'm happy I bought it: picture quality. I tested it on my 50" Pioneer Elite 1080p monitor. I used two copies of NBA: Street Homecourt (which is one of the few 360 games that outputs natively in 1080p). I put one copy in my old 360 that was hooked up via component and one copy in the Elite that was hooked up via HDMI and set to 1080p. I went to the same level in both games and then I switched back and forth between inputs so I could compare them. The difference to me was immediate. Everything was sharper and the image looked crisper on the Elite. The edge around character models on my old 360 looked slightly blurrier. I was not expecting as big a difference as I saw. To me, PQ is everything so this totally justified my purchase.

No way. There was definitely a difference. Even my girlfriend could tell, and she usually can't tell the difference between HD and non-HD. Maybe other people that tested it didn't use a big enough monitor, or maybe it's just because I have a Pioneer Elite. They also might not have used a game that outputs natively in 1080p. There are only two that I know of so far: NBA Street: Homecourt and Virtua Tennis 3.

I think the only major difference that you see with the Elite is with games "natively" outputting 1080p.
Have you tried it with any other games kiddtigger that are not 1080p? |

I work in the Broadcasting Audio/Visual industry and the jump from Component to HDMI on the Xbox 360 is definatly noticeable. The crispness is off the charts. Not a placebo effect at all. The edge that some PS3 games had, is no more. The truth be told...

I don't know. I don't think I'm going to buy the HD-DVD add-on (even though I'm so tempted because the Heroes TV series is going to be HD-DVD only). I don't want to prolong the format war. I love my PS3 and I LOVE blu-ray. Two movie formats is stupid and it only hurts consumers. I'll probably always buy every videogame system out because there is a market for more than one game system, but there can be only one movie format and it's blu baby!

Out side of an HDMI port whats the reason for getting an Elite? Did they build the wireless in? Im not a fanboy, just curious.

Couldnt resist......... I couldn't believe there was only two replies, sorry bro but you wasted 500 bux, I hope you have a PS3 as well or I guess I don't see the logic unless you like video games that are exclusive for XBOX. Spiderman 3 on PS3 is going to kick Xbox where it hurts. I don't come to Blu-Ray.com to read about a game system that has nothing to do with Bluray.
Sorry, no intent to offend but I hate XBOX with the passion Once again letting a little work anger out on Xbox -Cook |

Halo is horrible now...the first one rocked and I thought the second was garbage...adn the 3rd one will prolly be junk as well.....i admit I was both a xbox and PS2 owner but I got sooooo bored of the xbox esp after I beat Doom3 for it (the only reason I bought it in the first place....lol....dont like playing FPS on the computer)...I will never buy a 360 because of that....the PS3 is so much more powerful in every shape and form and could support more high end games in the future over the 360 as the Xbox did over the PS2.....case in point, long live SONY......and BLU RAY! |
