Apes aren't well known for throwing shit at each other though are they? A perfectly good 'faeces' joke and you ruined it with logic....

No one needed to see that mate.... We've gone all scatological and that wasn't my intention.

This looks like a great set though and the documentary is one of the best.

Apes have known to use their own waste matter as projectiles, so it's still valid...

Hi guys, does anyone think that the german boxset is the same as the US equilalent? I think I managed to garner that Conquest is presented in both the theatrical and extended version in this german set. Though I'm not sure whether Battle is the same. I'd really like to have option to watch the extended versions as opposed to just watching the deleted scenes on their own. Maybe I should post in the German forum.

The content of the discs in the German box set is identical to the UK set, down to the subtitles and audio selection. The longer cut of Battle is exclusive to the US set and so is the isolated score in lossless quality, it is the only option so far.

The extended cut was from a syndicated television broadcast so whether the international rights weren't available or not I don't know. It's always nice to have different cuts of a movie though....

Thanks for the information, shame that Fox couldn't have all releases the same. As chip says its niice to have every option available when watching a movie. I don't mind losing a few extras but when a movie is altered or missing something that irks me far more. I guess I'll get the UK set, looking forward to seeing Rise of the Apes soon enough so I want to revisit the Ape world in anticipation for the new film.

You're welcome.

Just as long as you stay away from the Dutch/French/Spanish/Italian sets since these drop the English DTS-HD MA audio for a lossy DTS-HD High Resolution one instead.

£14.99 at AMZ.

I own the dvd box and I'm not sure should I pull the trigger on this one. The first is a classic and I'm not that much into the sequels. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the image quality of the first film.

The image quality is outstanding. Not quite up there with one of my favourite older movies, how The West Was Won, but incredibly sharp and clear!

I'm in the same boat, I'm tempted to get just the original film (it's £6 in my local HMV) I've enjoyed the sequels over the years but the 1st one is a masterpiece.

As far as the US 40-Year Evolution set goes, no. The UK has a lossy isolated score while the US has it in DTS-HD MA. The US set also contains an extended version of "Battle for the Planet of the Apes" which isn't available outside North America, the UK set does however add a 45min bonus feature of extended scenes on the Battle disc.

The back cover of the UK edition of Planet of the Apes Quintology only mentions English audio and English for hearing impaired subtitles. But sometimes there are actually more languages on the disc.

Can somebody pop the disc in the player and check if the French (at least for the audio track) is available ?

Thanks!

The UK set does have additional audio and subtitles selections but not French. It contains mainly only English, German and Polish (and depending on disc also either Spanish, Italian and/or Hungarian). No French subtitles either although a wide selection of other languages to choose from.

If they have the same audio as the US versions then you can check here. Each film has French audio and subtitles.

I guess they're different than the US versions.

As someone who's never watched any of the Planet of the Apes films would you say £14.99 is good value?

Even if some of the films aren't good?

Itching to buy something lately and I'm not sure what!
