This book might be of interest to you.

Back on topic, while I'm sure Bale had reason to be upset, there's a difference between blowing off some steam and launching into a nearly four minute long tirade just dressing someone down like they were subhuman. It doesn't necessarily make him a bad guy, but he definitely crossed the line.

Never would have expected Bale to do that. But at the same time I dont feel bad for anyone until I would have heard the whole story.

“If you are working in a very intense scene and someone takes you out of your groove…It was the most emotional scene in the movie,” said Franklin. “And for him to get stopped in the middle of it. He is very intensely involved in his character. He didn’t walk around like that all day long. It was just a moment and it passed.

“This was my second movie with Christian, and it has always been a good experience with him,” added Franklin, who also worked with the actor on 2000’s Shaft. “He is so dedicated to the craft. I think someone is begging to make some noise about this, but I don’t think it’s fair. The art of acting is not paint by numbers, it’s an art form.

Bruce Franklin ( the guy getting yelled at) had this to say. It sheds a little more light. He had a right to be mad but he did go overboard a little. From hearing this it seems as though Chraistian might have appoligized for his behavior later on during the day.

Thanks. Figured that out shortly after I asked the question.

wow, wait? Is this the guy that played Batman in The Dark Knight? Seriously? I personally hated the batman performance. Don't think i've ever met anybody who liked it either... He sound's nothing like this in the movie.
Still, listening to this was kind of cool. Oh, wait... is this the guy that plays that... other British-sounding guy?
Actually... i have no idea what im even talking about... get back to discussion.

It's Batman. And his Batman preformence was great. In fact most of his movies are good. He's just a little intense.

anyone notice that for the most part his rant was in an american accent. I think that shows how immersed in his role he was. This is the same guy that lost 60 lbs andbecame completly emaciated for a role. Its one thing to lash out at a co-worker but when your job requires you to be a different person, your reaction to certian situations may be jillted. That being said he was completely out of line, but hey who hasnt been in a shouting match before. These are grown men, i think the DP will be just fine.

That is no excuse to talk to someone in that manner, it's not like that guy
was an extra or something, I'm sure part of his job is to make sure the lighting
is correct....And if it wasn't no matter how good the scene was going it
would of had to of been reshot...

My take, guy is a straight a hole, and sounds like he's on meth...

He did go a little over board though. His response should have been something like, " What the hell are you doing!! You shouldn't be back there!! Come on!! Get of the set!!". Something that would have expressed his anger but not make the guy feel like he's nothing.

lol, alright, well thanks for clearing that up.
As for the performance... I disagree. It would have definitely been amazing if he had duct tape over his mouth the whole time.
I fully expect a flame... im just saying... the way he talked was annoying for the first half hour until you get used to it. Still better than a lot of actors out there. It just was definately not worth all the hype. ...even though that was obviously for the joker. ...which was amazing. xD ...Magic tricks.
Anyway, sorry for going off topic there.

I've enjoyed Bale in everything I've seen him in. I don't agree with going off like that.... but I think actors by nature have to have emotional personalities to be able to effectively get the correct emotions to come across in film.

And tell me. What else is Michael Richards really known for?

Craft services costs more for a movie than most people make in a year. Anything that you think is right or appropriate goes out the window when you're only as good as the opening weekend numbers and thousands of dollars go by each second while you're on set.

These things are movies, they get edited together and have the illusion of a continuous work. Multiple takes are required for scenes. Shooting drags on all day and goes on for months. EVERYTHING is run on a schedule. Actors are cattle. Sure, they get paid a lot but there's a reason a lot of young stars burn out more quickly and that's because Hollywood throws them around like tissues.

Was it nice or right? No, probably not. Does it make him a bad person? Maybe if your sense of good and bad is very black and white and you like to judge people based on closed set personal moments. I'd rather see someone curt and straightforward than most of the passive aggressive BS that passes as acceptable nowadays.
Hit the nail on the head.

I have been on film sets multiple times and that is still NO reason for him to act like that under ANY circumstance. He is NOT the boss. If the DP was bothering him this much, he could contact the Producer or the AD or even the Director...NO reason to act like this at all...he is just a big diva who thinks he's the shiattt...the DP is a bigger part of the movie than he will ever be and no matter WHO it was on set, going off on them is wrong...and that DOES make him a bad person. When he hurts people's feelings like that, it is like being a bad person...and with this diva, he even has done it in his own family.

I like him as an actor, but not so sure about him on set...and I would definitely not want to work with him on any set if he is this much of a douche.
