I’ve always been interested in the ghost logo artwork on the uk blu-ray releases. Why does the steelbook release have the ghost facing the right but the 4K and original release have him facing left (which appears to be the correct direction?)

Because whoever worked in Sony's art dept of the time of the Steelbook doesn't have a frickin' clue what they were doing, probably.

There's a weird history surrounding the logo, the one on the UHD is the more accepted variation.

Some sources suggest only in Europe the no-ghost sign was inverted, but then why flip the ghost instead of merely flipping the sign? Too much work maybe.

This guy drew it the Steelbook way too.

The films make it explicitly clear which direction the logo should be, everything else is just graphic designer preference or misunderstanding I guess. The steelbook certainly ain't the first time the ghost was flipped that's for sure, but at the end of the day you are replicating a logo from a film, so you use the logo from the film.

I'm sure the steelbook is the way it is because the designer probably was handed a "right side" design and never thought to double check it, or they deliberately preferred it that way.

Type 'Ghostbusters DVD' or 'Ghostbusters VHS' into Google's image search and see that by and large, outside of the US, it was flipped until the slime covered DVD appeared. The cartoons were always correct, oddly.

Whoever designed this logo though, needs a good kick in the balls:

I'll see that and I'll raise you

(apparently from the Italian 3-movie BD set: https://www.amazon.it/Ghostbusters-C.../dp/B01LTHKNJA, though it's clearly a mock-up that wasn't ever replaced in the amazon listing)

I think the bigger complaint you could make today is why all GB merchandise has the titles in simple dull gray or white rather than blue or washed out green colouring around the titles? It's a small thing but as a fan it REALLY irritates me:

I have this on my release, don't see what's wrong with it. I thought it was pretty clever considering the packaging.

Help a guy out here who somehow managed to miss the fact that new deleted scenes and footage plus a commentary for GBII had been released the past few years.

Which UK friendly sets actually contain the latest bonus features?

I'm 4K UHD ready but not Region free for BD.

I bought the French steel: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Ghost...lu-ray/239316/

kept the three new Blu discs and sold the steel (which isn't all that great) with the 4K discs as I've got those already. The Blus are fully English-friendly multi-territory encodes, as long as you don't mind having the 'SOS Fantomes' titles on the disc art itself.

Hasn't appeared over here. French release is 35 euro, German release is 38 euro. Only difference is J-card.

UHD as well? We're into that one then.

And it definitely has the GBII commentary? I don't see it listed on the Amazon page for it.

I'd die a little bit inside every time I got 'SOS Fantômes' off the shelf

2nd worst movie title translation since Das Ding?

Shocker Amazon product description is inaccurate

The French and German sets contain the same discs (with different disc art) so you can be sure the GBII Blu-ray does have the new commentary.

The actual steel still has Ghostbusters on it, it's the j-card that has the localised title. The French discs do however have the SOS title on them as I said, so as long as you don't mind dying for however long it takes you to take the disc out of the case and put it in the player then you'll be alright

PS

When I did my Blu backup of the HD DVD of The Thing I wrote Das Ding on the disc, best foreign title EVAR

Does the French steel have the Dolby Stereo mix on the 1080p BDs?

YES they're the same new discs (artwork aside ) as have been released elsewhere.
