After reading this review, this thread(a few times) & ENERGY Speakers website, I've decided to grab some of these before they're gone. I was originally looking at the Paradigm Monitor Series to pair with a recently purchased ED A2-300, until I learned of the Energy C Series.
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=232
The performance to price ratio was just to good to pass up, especially with the clearance sales at www.wwstereo.com & www.audioadvisor.com.

ordered two C-R100($79 each) & one C-C100($129) from W.W. Stereo

ordered two C-500($200 each) & two C-100($100/pr) from Audio Advisor

big thanks to callas01 for the sales links
Yep, that's a super deal if I ever saw one.

Congrats! Very nice system.

You'll love those C-R100s surrrounds. After I added another pair for the rear surrounds, it was like being in heaven except for their color (black ash). It's sure a nice thing for me too that the C-R100's wrap around grills hide much of the black ash finish on those (except for the tops and bottoms).

The rest of my Energy speakers are finished in cherry, much better for our living room decor and WAF.

Chris,

Will0775 seems to think that they are great speakers and he is powering them with a Pioneer Elite. SO they must be good speakers.

Does the wife have you on a budget?

Yep. Actually, the idea of adding these speakers had been veto'd, so my budget is $0. Thanks for all the info!

hey guys, Mr.Roy if in the future your wife lets you get the speakers do not hesitate to get them. They are awesome. I researched for a few months and all I could read was excellent reviews on the Energy Take Classic System . Check the link below these speakers have made me an energy fan for life.

I think the only way I could pull it off is if I could sell what I have for the cost of the speakers. That would be no more money out of pocket.
Maybe I will give it a try.

Yeah, I sold my speakers took a few weeks, but it is possible.

I told my wife once, you know, I don't go to strip clubs, or bars or do drugs or gamble where I could easily blow a lot of money, all I want is to be able to buy Blus and the occasional upgrade here and there so that I can enjoy my time with you HERE to its fullest...

she still told me no at the time, but I don't hear no very often anymore....

Down grade from Sony full size speakers to a satellite system, I don't know.
Sony speakers can't sound that bad.

I guess I am always thinking I am missing something. I can't upgrade now, and I don't think I can for a while. So, if I can't have what I want, I need to want what I have .

Hey, is anyone not using their port plugs and wouldn't mind letting me have them, or at least test out my system with them? I didn't know what they were when I got them and threw them out. I searched to see if I could buy some online but cant find them... does anyone know where to buy them too?

I tried the port plugs out on the Energy C-100 speakers yesterday. Takes the bass away big time.

Finally arrived! Some came yesterday, the rest today.
Now comes the long break in.

Really I thought the plugs served to help improve base for small rooms... I could be wrong... anyways, Zippo, what did you have for speakers prior to these? How do they compare (once you break them in).

You aren't missing anything really unless your speakers are wall mounted or placed close to a boundary which may cause unpredictable bass response or boomy bass. I think close would be defined as less than one foot distance from the rear port to the wall or if placed close to a corner like that. Then using the port plugs may help produce smoother bass response. Otherwise, I wouldn't use them.

Just for kicks I did listen to my system with the port plugs installed. My C-300s and C-C100 are about two feet from the wall (measured from the front of the cabinets). The bass lacked foundation and sounded rather thin to me. Believe me, you'll be missing a lot of good bass if you plug the ports.

If you want to test them out for yourself, send me a PM to make the arrangements.

Seeing those speakers brings back fond memories or box-opening day and setup. Like Christmas morning !!

Enjoy!!!

Sort of.... The foam port plugs are used when you are forced to place your speakers in a cabinet or entertainment center with a back on it, or if you have to place them very close to a wall or corner. If the port plugs are out in those circumstances, the bass tones will sound "boomy" and will lack clarity and crispness. The bass will rattle the cabinet. The port plugs keep the bass tones from reverberating off the cabinet walls, making them sound more crisp and clean.

In callas01's case, he wouldn't necessarily need them because his towers aren't restricted by a cabinet and they are a sufficient distance away from the walls. The bass tones should sound great. But it sounds like he wants to try them to hear the difference.

The fronts in my system (see pics) have the port plugs in because I placed them inside my entertainment center. Without them, the bass just rattled the cabinet and sounded mushy.
