We'll see, but keep in mind Starship Troopers is 129 mins to MiB's 98 mins (same aspect ratios), so ~32% more content to fit on the disc.

This is true, but as it’s got much fewer language options than MiB (Troopers is for North America only) then it ends up at an average bitrate of ~50 Mb/s for video on the current UHD which is the same as MiB got, and that was deemed “good enough” second time around, even though I can see the grain’s still looking a bit chunky on the new MiB disc. If they didn’t think it worthy of the triple decker treatment then who knows how they feel about Troopers? I sincerely hope they give it some extra room though as it badly needs it.

This new steelbook artwork makes me so grateful that we are getting the original poster arts for the Fright Night and Bram Stoker's Dracula steelbooks.

Weird how Sony seem to be deciding these. Fright Night is of coursh brand new to UHD so why not lead with that classic OG art, but how come the steenbok reissue of Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula gets the classic art while all these other redos like Lawrence, Kwai and Troopers get modern “pop art” toss? And MiB got neither, ending up with a moderately tasteful rendering of key participants from the film.

Wonder if it’s time for someone to make a thread for UHD discs that are now being reissued with Dolby Vision.

Starting to think Sony may be rereleasing a lot of prior discs all with DV now.

I’m not going to complain though.

There is one "major" nitpick I have with the new Men in Black Steelbook. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith have been traced off (or are based on) promotional pictures from the second movie.

It's not the end of the world, but my friggin' brain is bothered by that detail.

I love the artwork on its own, certainly unrelated to the movie. I will be sure to pick this up, hopefully Eu amazons will carry it.

I had forgotten about Lawrence and Kwai. Sony all over the place with these.

Maybe the artist of the original art wants too much many for the rights to use it. Or the SONY boss thinks this looks better.

Really excited about the DV upgrade but that artwork is terrible. Luckily 98% of what I care about is located in the disc and what's on the cover has no impact on the really important stuff. Glad I held off on picking this up since the DV should look great.

Glad we're finally getting the DV re-issue along with some new special features! This is one of my all-time favorites. I got lucky and saw it in the theater when I was 12! It has stuck with me ever since.

Artwork is what it is, unfortunately. You would think Sony would read the feedback regarding their silly pop art attempts. I know some people love it but the majority says otherwise.

As with Lawrence...I only care about what's inside. Sony is all over the place with the pop art these days though. Surprised we're getting the OG Bram Stoker's Dracula poster.

I always thought the Japanese Laserdisc artwork looked best.

Yep, that art has always looked good. The US releases have always looked like shit because they are backwards. Rico is not left handed. It reminds me of the original artwork for Enemy at the Gates. It features a Mosin-Nagat with the bolt on the left side of the rifle, which is of course absurd.

Just pre-ordered the yellow skull-edition! Hope they'll fix light cannon mode and provide a more solid encode, or maybe DV will fix that anyway?

That kicks ass. Probably some logistical rights thing they can't use it, but more likely their marketing people just don't know.

Yeah..not too sure how it works overseas when it comes to specific artwork exclusives, but afaik that was only on the LaserDisc release for Japan. It is extremely badass though which is why I bought it. I'm sure whatever "logistics" and rights/guidelines..that were set in place for that time period likely expired some time ago.

I agree that the marketing people likely don't know and put in little to no effort in researching covers. It's all done by the interns.

Don’t forget that this is a Disnee release overseas, if they made that art themselves then it’s possible that Sony can’t use it.
