To each their own of course.

I always pay what I think a Blu is worth. Especially these days when we're at the make or break point of the 4K format. Disney just ditched physical media but PS5 and Xbox Series X are introducing a whole new group of people to the format. Now is the time to support, so I'm happy to pay full price for a new release that I would buy anyway.

In 2020 I added like 50 new 4k blu-rays to my collection. I'm still looking for BLADE in 4k (starring Wesley Snipes) for less than $29.99. The price still hasn't gone done yet. Which I'm a bit surprised considering it's an old film.

The X-Men Beginnings Trilogy on 4K is down to $40 total. Which is a good deal when each individual release is in the $30-$35 range and who knows if Disney will continue to release these titles once the X-Men are introduced into the MCU.

Batman: The Animated Series is back in stock at $50. Anyone have this? I worry about the cases being smashed by shipping...

I have the DVD release of Batman TAS. Not sure if it's worth the blu-ray upgrade. Too bad it doesn't include a digital copy as I'd definitely bite at $50.

I’m usually not in a rush to upgrade dvds of animated shows, but the HD transfer of TAS is absolutely worth the money—especially at $50.

I agree with your sentiment, animated series scale up better than live action. However Milligan is correct the upgrade is fantastic because of the restoration.

Although, I do think those who purchased the DVD version with the restoration wouldn't see the same benefit, but for anyone with lder version, it is impressive.

My copy arrived in the mail yesterday.
I haven't had time to open it up and look at the discs, but at a glance, the slipbox seems fine and I didn't hear any broken pieces inside.
I'll probably open it, and some other stuff I got, some time tomorrow. I'll report what condition it's in when I do.

Assuming it's not damaged in anyway, I'll consider myself very lucky.
It was shipped in a very large box, and the only other thing in said box was a 10-pack of bar soap.

Having a hard time deciding if I should triple dipping on LOTR.
For those that already have LOTR 4K, did they correct the green tint that was on FOTR?

I don’t own it currently (though I just ordered it, so soon) the green tint is apparently gone.

From this site’s review:
Quote:
Although most of The Lord of the Rings' extended editions are visually identical to the theatrical cuts, The Fellowship of the Ring is different because the Blu-ray featured an infamously green-tinted picture. The good news here is that Warner Bros.' new transfer -- which includes a fresh 4K scan of the original camera negative and VFX filmouts -- no longer features that garish tint, which allows its extremely vivid palette to shine naturally like never before.
EDIT: Arrived after four days, non-Prime.

For those considering buying the LotR 4K set, bear in mind:
Quote:
None of the extensive DVD-era extras are included on this 4K-only set, although a more complete collection is planned for release in 2021 with brand-new bonus content.
Me, I’m fine with this set. I watched all (and good lord, there’s a LOT) the extras from the BD set; I can’t see me going through any more special features about these movies.

Although all those and more extras are expected to be part of the 4k megaset coming out later this year arent they? This is mostly why I was on the fence about it (not because I was planning on getting the megaset but because the barebones sets will probably plummet in price afterwards)

Dip lower than $90? Probably, eventually. But that mega set will be even pricier, much more (I would guess) than the price point this set started—$115.

Well Digital Bits wrote this... https://thedigitalbits.com/item/lord...gy-2020-4k-uhd

Now then… Warner has also announced plans to release both 4K sets together in one more deluxe package next summer. That set is expected to include the same 4K movie discs coming on 12/1, with the same Hobbit Blu-rays already available (the movies only, not the extras), and newly-produced Lord of the Rings Blu-rays upgraded with better image quality from this new 4K remaster (those remastered Lord of the Rings Blu-rays will also be available separately next year, in honor of the 20th anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring). That package too will include Digital Copies, but it will NOT include The Appendices or any of the other previous extras (with the likely exception of the audio commentaries on the regular Blu-rays). We’re told that it will, however, include one new piece of bonus content that’s still yet to be determined. And that package is likely to include deluxe packaging and swag items too (possibly a book of some kind, artwork cards, and maybe replicas of the One Ring and the Key to Erebor).

Wait, the mega set slated for this summer won’t contain previous extras? FFS why can’t we just get the full package in one release.

I think the previous extras were SD, so maybe they only wanted HD content in the set?
