Raidho does not believe in dome tweeters period. Must be why the C4 sounded broken next to the D2s

I think the 2/7 are well worth their price it is clear Dynaudio was thinking inside the box when the designed this speaker, I liked the fact that they were better balanced then what I could remember from the 3/7 which are known to be bass heavy.

All in all very musical speaker, your 2/6 must be enjoyable as well, are they perfect, certainly not but they were throwing an impressive soundstage and we got them to image very very well.

Vocals were great, sign of a very good x-over design and they did not seem to lack speed.

The 2/6s are very much like your X12s. When I used to connect the 2/6s to the XS, they'd sound very good! They'd actually have great bass and very communicative speakers that maybe didn't have the resolution of the Excites or focus, but they get music right! I've never heard are the 2/7s, but one if the AVS guys really likes them for his office. He has C2 plats and kef ls50s. Oh and he has scansonic MB-1s.

Glad you had a good time with them.

When are you buying a pair?

Thus the reason of why I doubt it. If this were true I don't think it would be hard find multiple people complaining about spending big money only to be disappointed in 3-4 years. The exact opposite is what I read a lot of. People buying them and enjoying them for years and years.

I was more testing small integrated for the office with built in USB dac if possible , I was looking for the pair of speakers in their lot that was as close as possible to my X-12, it was the 2/7 they have a pair of 2/6 in the back store but not unboxed, the store is smalls o they are a bit limited with space.

Yeah I suppose that's true, I've never heard people complaining about this before either. I'm not going to worry about it and continue comparing the Dyn's to other speakers. So far they're still my first choice, gonna hear them with the Revel Performa 3 M106's after the holidays. Thanks for your input on the soft dome thing guys!

Right on, go for them, but, at least you got to hear about Vince Philosophy on his speakers, I like such attention to details and this is why the price of Totems is steep sometimes considering their size but seriously as I said Dynaudio sound fantastic even after 10 years.

I seriously dounbt you'll find something you will enjoy more than the Dyns in that price range.

Yeah those videos are awesome. I find Vince to be the most interesting speaker designer I think.

I know the Revels are at $2000/pair and the Dyn's are $3000/pair, so not really the same league, but the next step up from Revel is the Ultima range, and that has to wait for a lottery win!!

In that price range when auditioning the Totems did you happen to hear the Forest? For floor standers they are small but pack a nice punch.

I didn't listen to the Forest when demoing the Model 1's. I think the Forest was a little over $4000/pair, so I didn't bother.

You are just crazy for wanting more bass, what you need may be the 260 John but the wife would not be happy.

Hey guys, just an update for ya on my speaker auditions.

Went in to my Dyn dealer about a week ago to take the 160's over to my Revel dealer and compare the Performa M106's to the 160's. Guess I should have called ahead because the 160's had been lent out to demo's for someone else But I figured instead of wasting the rest of the day, I took a pair of the Excite x14's over to demo the Revels with.

Demoed them with the Performa M105's which have 5.25"drivers in them. Basically I totally agree with the review of the M106's on Stereophile (http://www.stereophile.com/content/r...speaker-page-2), where they compare them to the Dyn Excite X12's and said that the Performa's out performed the Excites in pretty much every area.

There was a good amount more detail in the Revels and they had more definition in the highs and mids. The dynamics were also a bit better on the Performa's, and they are a very fast, tight speaker. I found the Excites had vocals and instruments that jumped out of the speakers a little more on certain tracks, and could sound a little bigger in the soundstage. The Performa's could play louder and still sound good though, whereas the Dyn's got a little shrill or compressed I guess at really high levels. The Revels seem to be a bit more comfortable and fun to listen to, very musical, although you may loose a little bit of air and transparency over the Excites, but just a little bit.

Basically I think I liked the Performa M105's better than the Excites in 9/10 area's and I would be buying the Performa's over the Excites. Just have to get those darn 160's in to compare with the M106's. For $2000/pair the Revel's are mighty tempting over the $3000/pair Focus 160's. It's been a while since I heard the Focus 160's and can't quite remember them well enough to say how much better they are than the Excite X14's, but I wonder though if I will still like the 160's so much now after hearing the Excites with the Performa's and really preferring the Performa's?

Do the Focus 160's really dig up a good deal more detail than the Excites and have all that much better dynamics? Do you guy's think the extra $1000/ pair is worth it for the Focus 160's over the Performa M106's? I am still definitely going to compare the two at some point before purchasing, but what are your guy's thoughts?

the last pair of revels I heard were the Gems and I felt the Dynaudio C1 was a better speaker. Have never heard a Performa model in any version. I did prefer the Excite X16 over the Concerta F12

Yeah, I'm still kinda baffled by the Excites. The sound just leaps from those speakers so effortlessly, and with such a big sweet soundstage. While this is a very big thing that I like about the Excites, there are many more smaller areas that I like better in the Performa's.

So I'm hoping when I hear the Focus 160's with the Performa's, they can step it up in all those smaller area's while still having the same traits the Excites have that I liked over the Performa's, as I mentioned above. If the Focus 160's can bring in more detail, faster transients and speed, more definition in the highs and better dynamics than the Excite x14's did, then I think it will not be a problem for them to outperform the Revel's for me.
