Most likely it was a just a teaser.

I doubt they would have another Infinity Stone in GotG V2 and I don't think they would introduce one in Spiderman: Homecoming or Black Panther. The most likely next appearance would be in Thor: Ragnarok or maybe it won't appear until Infinity War. Thanos has a lot of work to do. I can't wait to see how he does it.
GotG 2 make the most sense though....

the Aether may not have been in the same lab/collection.

It could be in one of Collectors others hoards floating around elsewhere

There is a rumor floating around that Heimdell has had the Soul Stone this entire time. His line from T:TDW "From here I can see nine realms and ten trillion souls" and his yellow eyes are the possible evidence. I'll admit, it makes sense.

yeah the gold/orange/yellow eyes and that reasoning would make sense.

Only problem, is they(Asgardians) gave Collector the Aether as they didnt want two stones so close together. So am guessing its bogus rumour.

No one but Odin may be privy to he's in possession of an Infinity Stone. The source of his powers. Loki spoke of Heimdall's prowess in the first Thor film, evendors questioning why Heimdall wold evendors follow commands of The All-Father. So he is to be respected.

Take a good look at his armour:

An Infinity Stone could be right there in the center of Yggdrasill.

The idea has been seeded in that Marvel may use Heimdall as the Soul stone carrier because he doesn't have that orange/gold glow in his eyes during the Age of Ultron Thor vision.

Ultimately I'd say for Marvel it's an easy writers convenience to make Heimdall the soul stone carrier but would absolutely LOVE if Black Panther was the one that introduced it. Thor movies have already given us 1, GoTG gave us 1 and Captain America 1 which ended up in multiple places and Avengers introduced the mind stone but was formally revealed in Ultron and used. Dr Strange gave us one just recently.

Seeing Black Panther have one and introduce their own brand of shaman mysticism into the mix to help bolster and explain the Black Panthers power and origins would be awesome.

They better not undercut The Panther God and Wakandan technology & mysticism by crediting an Infinity stone.

Think of it as accentuating it instead

At the end of the day, movies are able to take a little liberty with the source material and weaving in an infinity stone to that story can enhance it.

I personally hope it does show up in Thor 3 just because I don't want 2 of them to 'originate' on Earth.

I also wouldn't mind Thanos already having it.

We were discussing this at work today and talked about how awesome the opening of the film (or the post credits of Guardians) would be to just have a cold open on Xandar being wrecked and showing Thanos clicking the Power Stone into place on the gauntlet

A strong showing of his true threat by ripping the Mind Stone out of Vision's head would also be great

Im not cool with that just because they can.

None of the other heroes films have gem power source.

Heimdall, Vision, or Mordo can be gem dependant as B-Level heroes.

Absolutely friggin NOT!

Heimdall or Hela will have the stone. Remember, the bearer will also round out the spelling of THANOS.

Hela would make more sense - Queen of the Hel....Hell, being an underworld where souls go....

As a non-comics reader, I feel like the last stone could potentially appear in the Planet Hulk section of Ragnorok.

I think that after having the other stones being MacGuffins in other movies, the last one of them being kinda like ''it was always there under our noses!'' or something would be a cool idea. Then again, I don't mind. I like how they slowly introduced them

Thats sounds like a non-comic reading idea.

How would the stone appear during the gladiator stuff?
