Really strange that one of the biggest movies of all-time is not getting a steelbook for it's 4K debut. I don't think it has anything to do with the Best Buy news either since this is a Paramount release, and they've been dropping a lot of their steelbooks not exclusive to one retail chain.

Just pre-ordered the Collector's Set without a moment's hesitation, but I really want to know what all that extra cost is going towards... Depending on how far the price drops (or doesn't), I may actually bail and go with the standard release. (I can't believe I actually just typed that.

Disney's Avatar and it's sequels were mediocre,Also I think the Dolby Vision DCP that was re-released this year is great, just don't release it in UHD with the left eye version in 3D

If I understand correctly, the box set is exclusive to the US?
It would be interesting to see what Disney would do with a Collector's Edition, considering they released a bunch of beautiful merch back in February. ![]() |

I pre-ordered the collector’s edition as well, but I contemplated the decision for a few seconds. And trust me when I say that’s a BFD for me. I first saw this movie in theaters when I was SEVEN. It’s been my favorite movie ever since. The only other favorite movie I’ve had is The Lion King.
I really wish they would’ve given us something better than a paper sleeve to hold the discs. I would’ve preferred a SteelBook, with better cover art. I’m going to keep my pre-orders for both the CE and standard for now. Might not make my final decision until I have them both in my hands. |

I'll still get it just for the 4K and the Atmos mix. For the rest, I will keep the digital 4K scan of the original 1997 35mm print, with the original "loud-untouched" Cinema DTS 5.1 mix, for "purist purposes", like I did with the 35mm scans and Despecialized Versions of Star Wars (yes, I own the Disney/Fox Blu-Rays......but i'm unhappy with the transfers for EP 1-6). A real shame that collectors and fans alike can, sometimes, make a better job than certain lazy studios. ![]() This was a movie that would've looked so great, hadn't have been for the "modern-looking" green tint. ![]() The Matrix is a perfect example of how good a movie, scanned from the original 35mm print, without any artificial green tint, looks like. And can confirm that that is as close as you can get from an actual 35mm print. Shame on Paramount/Disney for sticking with the green-toned print for the 4K. |

What's the over/under of upgraded iTunes/MA versions when we get closer to the release date?
