£60 for The Motion Picture? Yeesh, I think it's a wonderfully ambitious movie, but do I need the Deluxe edition ...

I get it but I miss the days when the discs stay the same, but you get a awesome model of the Enterprise with one and a Digipak with the other.

So the Journey to the Silver Screen documentary from the 50th anniversary set is not included in this set?

Let's face it. Paramount is a business and they are about making money. If you want the absolute complete set you're going to have to buy multiple items. If you have some willpower you can just get the single DC but at the expense of the SLV. I don't need it that bad so that's what I plan on doing. What really bugs me, and it doesn't pertain to me, is if someone hasn't gone 4k yet and you really want the DC and you live in NA you're screwed. That's just wrong. Maybe there will be an option down the road. I guess you could just play the 4k in a blu-ray player and watch it down res. In my case maybe Paramount will release the SLV digitally in 4k for purchase...eventually.

I'm sorry I can't understand it for you. The question was: "The Special Longer Version famously used unfinished effects shots, like when Kirk exits the airlock. Are these now corrected for this release?"

Fein answered, "There is one previously unfinished vfx shot, yes."

It's a not a straightforward answer.

No. Paramount's Blu-ray discs are region free in pretty much every historical instance, and always for Star Trek releases (both film and TV). Don't worry about it.

Exactly my plan. And I just want to say, as someone who’s unironically adored TMP since day one, and who feels that (in numerous ways) it’s the most purely Trek film of them all, I’m delighted beyond all measure that Paramount is treating it with all the respect and celebration it’s due, rather than as a red-headed stepchild. If even 25% of the studio’s goodwill toward TMP could be extended to THE FINAL FRONTIER, what an abundance of blessings we would have.

Well, the deluxe edition made my Dad's Xmas present easy, he's going to go crazy for it.

Personally I'll just stick with the version from the normal 4K set, as truth be told I've never been a fan of TMP.

My question is, will this newly authored 4K disc of the Theatrical Cut and the Special Longer Version which are seamlessly branched together and can be found exclusively in The Complete Adventure set, will it have those inexplicably blurry VFX shots during the spacedock scenes, or will those be fixed to look as good as they do in the Director's Edition?

If they *are* fixed, that makes The Complete Adventure set a lot more interesting to me.

I'm in NA, so I guess I need to cancel my preorder and place a new one at Amazon.uk. Good grief....

Well, I took the plunge. Lower price even with shipping? I'll take it.

Now we wait for the next update, where Paramount will say the NA release is ALSO 5 discs.

Isn’t The Godfather III Theatrical only available in the big box with the book? I don’t think it’s in the regular package.

III Theatrical has not been available since VHS. Maybe it was also on laserdisc.

Never mind you are right. I thought III theatrical only came in the big box, but it’s also included in the standard trilogy 4K package too…oops

Prior to the UHD, the theatrical cut of Part III had never been able on home video. Even the initial VHS release represented Coppola's 'Final Director's Cut.'

Potentially silly question: will the UK Complete Adventure set (aka the deluxe set) come with a digital code, and if so will I be able to redeem it from the US? In other words, are digital codes region free, or are they restricted?

I've never bought a disc from the UK with a digital code, so I'm unsure if they can even be redeemed in the US. Probably not, right?

It's been a while since I treated myself to any big box swag editions. But all the different releases are still confusing me. I think I'll buy TWO copies of EVERYTHING just to be on the safe side!

Damn. Some astute person on this board took a stab about what the Deluxe Set might include back on June 20th but they got shot down.

Bolty....is "Directors Com Adv" possibly standing for "Director's Complete Adventure" --
possibly indicating all 3 versions of the movie?!
