Hey guys I recently got the X2300W series and this is my first Denon. Loving it so far but the sounds modes are confusing to say the least. I'm usually doing Pure Auto mode and my players are bitstreaming the audio. Everything is connected via HDMI to the receiver and the receiver to the TV via HDMI.
I'm usually seeing DTS or DTSHD + Neural X . I understand Neural X is up mixing but is there a way to change this if I want to have it default to the correct track on the disc? I can't for the life of me find out how if you can from the manual. Cheers to anyone who can enlighten a Denon newbie. ![]() |

New firmware allows you to apply Dolby Surround to DTS-H Master and Neural X to Dolby Digital...
It just feels weird to even think of mixing anything Dolby with anything DTS or vice versa...It feels like this... .... |

this is for you and "oldgame", are you sure it's the denon that's at fault? do you hear that "static noise" on every input and do you hear it from every speaker or only some speakers? lastly, do you hear it from your where you sit or do you have to put your head close to the speaker to hear it?

another good test along those lines is go through all the inputs without powering up the sources for those inputs and see if you hear this noise then. if you do, remove the hdmi from those inputs and see if you still hear that noise. if you still hear that noise, on the inputs where the source has been paused, not powered up or the hdmi removed from the receiver, then, you have a receiver problem. let's hope it's something simple like the cable box or the hdmi cable for now. |

Could low bitrate streaming content cause this due to high compression? |

My uncle had the same receiver as I did. When he upgraded to 11.1 the static noise started. When Audyysey is turned off it goes away. We switched to Marantz and it's alot better. There still is a slight but very minor static noise in the Marantz, but it's nothing compared to the Denon. You have to talk to someone beyond customer service from Denon to get any straight answers.

The wires are plugged in just fine. Speaker wires either are well connected and work or they are not fully connected and don't work...nothing in between

I am not the one asking to "check the speaker wires"? I might even understand to check for damages in my center speaker, but the speaker wires?

if your Blu-ray player has analog out (multichannel or stereo) connect that into your receiver (whichever it supports multi/stereo) and play the same thing that you were getting "static" with. if it plays clean and you don't have issues then you might have either an hdmi board issue or perhaps a DAC issue.
if analog plays clean each time, but, when you switch back with the same source device to digital you can narrow your focus. my old Onkyo 5507 pre-amp, had an issue just like what I described. it had an hdmi board issue and at any given moment produced crackling noises in the right front channel from any digital source. when I used analog from all sources into the pre-amp, audio was flawless. I'm not saying your having this type of an issue, but, I did experience something similar before. turning on and off dynamic "anything" did nothing it was a digital issue in my case. I have had no such issue with either of my Marantz pre-amp or receiver. |
