This place seems dead lately? Anyway Big Daddy next time your updating the 1st post I'm also using Radio Shack Optimus 7's for my rear surrounds. Sounds strange I know but they work great and since I have them sitting on the back of the sectional they work better then the Energy C-100's would have. It's mostly a size problem. They are quite a bit smaller then the Energy's. I'm surprised at just how good they work as surrounds. Anyway I was just bored and saw no one was posting here so I had to come up with something

I posted awhile back with questions about how everyone was liking their AA subs. I don't think I ever thanked you guys for all your responses... so thank you!

I ended up getting a HD-SUB12, but it's not actually mine. My dad is ALSO in the process of building a HT setup so I recommended it to him, and he got one. I still havent heard it yet because his Onkyo607 has been backordered and it finally arrived just the other day. I'm going over there to hook everything up for him sometime next week, so I'll finally have an opportunity to hear the thing. If I like it, which I am pretty confident I will, I will be getting one too. However, it will probably be down the road, as I need to get a new receiver first and the budget is limited. I already have an older Yamaha sub that works fine for the time being.

@Bill - you have your rear surrounds sitting on the back of your sectional? If possible, I would like to see a picture of that. My Dad is having some space issues and was going to skip the rear surrounds all together. But, if they can somehow be placed on the back of his sectional, that might change... as that's about the only place he would have room for them. As long as they don't look too obtrusive, he may be able to convince my mother to let him put them the on the sofa.... sooo, pics if possible would be awesome! Thanks.

Congratulations to you and your father. What color subwoofer did you get and what other speakers does your father have?

Thanks Big Daddy.

He got the black HD-SUB12. At the moment he has two Polk Monitor 50s for mains and a Polk CS2 for center. Down the road, he's planning on replacing the Monitor 50s with Monitor 60s and using the 50s for side surrounds. I'm in the process of making him one of your GRAMPA (i think that's what you call them) risers for Father's Day (i'm also making one for myself at the same time for my future AA purchase).

i wouldnt necessarily call it 'dead' at the moment, we just havent found any willing members who've purchased em. besides, its summer, time to enjoy the sun and some chowder.

for the new owners, any updates on the pictures?

we love pictures.

in this case we love pictures of new subs.

Your welcome. Anyway I think everyone here is pretty much pleased with the purchase. For the money it's a lot of sub.

Well if I ever remembered to take my camera with me I was planing on taking some. My setup is at the second house, which eliminates the WAF factor But a quick description, the Optimus 7's are a smaller speaker I bought at Radio Shack probably in the 90's. I know all the HT purists are going to say they are supposed to be a couple feet above your head and behind you. I didn't want to hang these on the walls so I turned them sideways and set them on the back of the couch. They are rear ported so they need to breathe. The couch has the hard back with the large puffy cushions. So it works for my situation, but it is less then ideal. That said though it does sound great. I sit on one end of the couch a lot so I had to turn that speaker down in the AVR and point it away from me. But 90 percent of the time I'm the only one there watching or listening so it isn't a big problem. I just adjust it to sound perfect where I sit. Not sure it would be ideal for someone who isn't alone. The wife isn't much interested in my musical tastes so when I want to get away I just go there and I can listen as loud as I want

So I decided to send my tSc ASW-10 back and get a HD-Sub 10. Made an offer on ebay for one. Hopefully they will accept. I have about 5 days to send the other sub back, I want to get the HD-Sub 10 asap so Im not without a sub for long.
