It's funny, i seem to watch movies more so now for the sound than for the story. I read over on avs that "9" had some great bass scenes so it had to go into the netflix q...
ditto!

Just watched "9" on Sunday. I'm surprized with the so-so reviews it got. I liked it...and the wall-shaking sound effects it provided!

Question going back to last week: I (we) figured out that each speaker can be manipulated by my Yamaha's 7-band equalizer. Off the top of anyone's head, do you know what each band does / represents...in a lay-person definition?!

It's been a while since I had a physical equalizer to move up and down and the prospect of possibly tweaking 7.1 speakers x the 7 bands to be a little daunting.

Well I dunno if you remember well the way your EQ were setup back in the day but from left to right you had lowest frequency to the highest. Often enough people adjusting the sound did not emphasize to much on mid-range frequency so the bands looked like a wave pretty much in the end and after did some tweaking here and there. So you could play around with that and find out what works best for you.

If you're looking at timbre matching your center as much as possible with the CF-50 you might want try to give a bit more gain on the higher range of frequencies to the center channel. It's all a matter of preferences.

Just got my C-300 speakers today and I have to say they are beautiful. There is a slight problem, however, as I don't think I will be able to use one of them as a center channel (will probably use it as a back surround in a 6.1 system). That leaves me in a bind as to what center speaker to use. Ideally, the C-C100 would be the choice but these are hard to get and when available tend to be expensive What other options do I have? CC-10.. would that work? C-C50 seems underpowered?

Also, do you use the provided spikes with your speakers?

I once used a c-c50 with some c-300s and it seemed fine.

A c-c50 would be better than going to a different series and therefore losing the front to center speaker match. C-c100 optimal, but c-c50 is better than switching series. That's my opinion.

Just out of curiosity, why can't you use the c-300 as a center? is there no room? There is no way you could make it work? Because in theory it really would be the best possible center for your fonts you could possibly have.

As far as spikes, what kind of floor do you have? on a carpet, use them. On hardwood, it's optional, but if you use them on hardwood, you need to put the little disks down. I have hardwood and do not use them, I just use rubber bumpers. Others like the spikes even on hardwood.

Actually there are several people on here that are using the C-C50 with both the C-500s and C-300s and each of them have said it works well for them. You can look at the very first post on this thread, and talk with the people that have the C-C50 and see how they like it match to the C-300s. Perhaps send them a PM and see if they get back to you. You can find the C-C50 on ebay for about $94, but you may want to jump on that quickly.

94GTStang C-500 Fronts C-C50 Center
browndk26 C-200 Fronts C-C50 Center

mtgredline C-50 Fronts C-C50 Center Take Classic Surrounds S8.3 Sub
Tech Freak C-300 Fronts, C-C50 Center, C-50 Surrounds

Probably the easiest person to get ahold of would be erict, he is on the site often, or 94GTStang, they are both on frequently, also browndk26 is on often, his C-200s have the same driver as the C-300s and would be able to give you a good opinion too.

It's a space and aesthetic issue more than anything but I may still go with one as a center at least until I can find C-C100.

As far as using the spikes goes, I wanted to know if there was any improvement in sound when using them. I have hardwood floors by the way but will probably put a rug or mat under them.

Yeah, I saw those but unfortunately I need them in black and would prefer a C-C100 anyway. I'll probably end up using one of the 300 for a center until I can find C-C100.

well if you can wall mount your TV and then put the C-300 underneath it like crazyblue has, then I think it would look fine personally and it have better imaging....

SOooo How is the sound?

The spikes are supposed to help with Isolation, although, honestly I cannot say that I notice a sound difference.

Here a guy from Canada is selling one and it's been posted 2 days ago not sure he would ship to US but you could give it a try.

Don't know how they sound yet as I am still awaiting my receiver and wiring which should arrive today or tomorrow. I have this stand and would have to put the speaker in front

http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo...mber=ENVEV20CI

someone else was using it with their RC series and said it was great.

or use a RC-LCR for the center if you want... or RC-C Mini

Walmart sell the exact same stand for $160 plus tax except they branded it Hometrends rather than Z-Line. Directions are written for a Z-Line That's where I got mine couldn't be more pleased. Read the 3rd review from Amazon:

The C-300 would make a far better center than the C-C100 IMO.

For surrounds, I recommend the C-R100s, if one watches movies mostly.

My c-c50 works well with the c-200's. I chose the c50 for the smaller height. If I bought the c-c100 I would have had to buy a new TV stand or raise the TV somehow. I had the WAF(money) to consider also. I was going to buy c-300's but with shipping they cost to much.

I agree 100%!

I also agree about the c-r100s if the setup is more for movies.

Nor do I dude! Which is why I don't even use them on my floor. I just prefer the look without them, and since it sounds the same to me either way ...

I use them when my speakers are on carpet or a rug though.
