i worked at a restaurant one time that was open on thanksgiving.

i told them it was a dumb-ass idea (exact words i used) and that we'd wind up losing money.

well, we did lost money. and we were never open again on thanksgiving.

Probably depends on location, but we moved several years ago and didn't get our belongings until a few days before Thanksgiving. We weren't fully unpacked yet so we went out for Thanksgiving dinner and the restaurant had lines out the door all day long.

I'm sure there are some people, including some single folks, who don't want to go through all of the work each year to enjoy a meal, a few times a year, that appreciate the ability to go out to a restaurant for dinner.

All of that is understandable.

But Sizzler?

Default The Trick is to Keep Breathing

"She's not the kind of girl
Who likes to tell the world
About the way she feels about herself
She takes a little time
In making up her mind
She doesn't want to fight against the tide

Lately I'm not the only one
I say never trust anyone
Always the one who has to drag her down
Maybe you'll get what you want this time around

Can't bear to face the truth
So sick he cannot move
And when it hurts he takes it out on you

Lately I'm not the only one
I say never trust anyone
Always the one who has to drag her down
Maybe you'll get what you want this time around

The trick is to keep breathing
The trick is to keep breathing

She knows the human heart
And how to read the stars
Now everything's about to fall apart

I won't be the one who's going to let you down
Maybe you'll get what you want this time around
(the trick is to keep breathing)
I won't be the one who's going to let you down
(the trick is to keep breathing)

Maybe you'll get what you want this time around
The trick is to keep breathing"

Been a brutal Monday after getting back from a cold, rain soaked camping trip. And here I was hoping for a mellow, short holiday week.

I'm lucky enough to have a girlfriend right now so I pretty much have to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas even though I don't like to. When I was single though, holidays were just another day for me. I always chose to work on holidays to make extra money and when I was off, I'd do whatever I wanted to as if it were just a normal day. Never cared for these two specific holidays really.

Have anyone ever attempted to marathon their entire library of movies on iTunes?

Also, don't really have any movies in iTunes but I've seen my entire music library and it's 34.74GB and would take 34.8 days to listen to. Somehow though, I got a lot of podcasts (like Rick Steves) so those are included as well. I'm not sure how I got all of them. I never changed the settings or anything.

Did the maths and as long as I keep passing my classes I can be done with all the work I need to do for the BSW program by the end of 2019. So 6 straight terms but I think I can handle it, haven't been to school since 2014. Hoping I can afford it and I can adjust quickly to almost exclusively taking online classes. Not sure how different it is from classroom learning but I bet there's a big difference.

one of, if not THE, biggest issues is staying focused. with online classes, you have more distractions around you if you do most of the work from home or other familiar environment.

you have a tv, movies, games, etc. at home. so you gotta be focused more and not get easily distracted. i'm not saying you do or you will, just saying that it's bit more difficult taking online classes versus going to an actual school and sitting in a room with other people taking the same class.

but you got this....

I agree. If the option to go to a classroom is available, I'd go that route. Trying to stay focused sitting at home on a computer just wouldn't work as well, at least for me. I'd be too tempted to get up and do other stuff during "class".

that's what my mom said when my sister started working from home a while back (she doesn't do it anymore, but for good reasons). she was like, "i couldn't do that, i'd be sitting there thinking i could be getting so much other stuff done and i wouldn't get any 'work' stuff done." and i said, "Well, i guess it's a good thing you're retired, huh?"

but my sister had a good system. she'd get up, start some coffee, log in to her work station, then go put some clothes in the washer. she'd get her coffee then start working. when the washer quit, she'd go put those clothes in the dryer and put another load in the washer. then, she'd go do some more work. when both of those loads finished, she'd go fold one and put the other in the dryer; then, more work.

after the second load was done in the dryer and they were folded, she'd work non-stop for a while and really get a lot of stuff done. and she made sure to never turn on the tv until she was done.

so she got a lot of other stuff done while she was working, but she made sure she was always doing something with her work so she wouldn't get in trouble. they had to be logged on for a certain amount of time each day and get a certain amount done. and she made sure to always do a little more than that to stay out of trouble. other people? not so much. some would just log in, then go shopping or just sit around watching tv all day. and those people got dropped from the "working from home" thing.

just gotta discipline yourself when it comes to things like that. but i think he can do it.

I noticed that my Snatched 4K movie discs has different disc-art for the Blu-ray & UHD.
Studios should do this more often with their 4K releases.

I know, I've never done online classes before. Kinda worried about it but the other option is no classes at all, which really isn't an option. I've always done at least okay in classes when I care about the material. I would like to clarify these 6 terms won't actually BE the work I need to do to get to PMSW. They're finishing up the 120ish credits I need just to apply and start working in the field to get to PMSW.
