I can save you 90 minutes of your life...if the spinoff is a good movie, it was a good idea. If it's a bad film, it was a bad idea. Until we all know what we're dealing with and talking about, it's just speculation.

Spelling Rogue rouge, really should lead to the introduction of a red-faced embarrassment smiley ...

Are we going to make this the "pick on MechaGodzilla thread" now? I mean the attention is flattering on some level but maybe we could discuss Star Wars instead.

You won't hear anymore from me, I can't tell the difference between the two words myself, and I had to copy and paste them from Google's dictionary to get the right one ...

I am looking forward to Roger, Roger One at least, about time those droids got their own movie.

Watch the spin-off be better than the actual new episodes.

Default More Star Wars "AfterMath" book description.

As was reported last week, a plot synopsis for the upcoming “Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens” novel, Aftermath, surfaced on the Barnes & Noble website...

Well now the official Star Wars website expands on this with a new feature article by Lucas Books senior editor Jen Heddle about this much-anticipated new novel, which we now know to have been penned by Chuck Wendig.

From the article:

The second Death Star has been destroyed. Rumors are flying that the Emperor and his enforcer, Darth Vader, are dead. A new government is forming to replace the Empire. But the galaxy is a big place, and the fallout of this cataclysm will affect different worlds in different ways. Does everyone accept the fall of Imperial rule? Has everyone even heard the life-altering news? What rushes in to fill the vacuum the Empire has left? And who will try to stop them? Those are some of the themes we’ll be exploring in Aftermath, and as a lifelong Star Wars fan, just writing those words gives me chills. I can’t wait for our first canon glimpse into the state of the galaxy after the Battle of Endor.

Jen Heddle also says:

What’s more, Aftermath will be the first book in a trilogy that begins to bridge the Star Wars timeline between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. There is so much unknown between the Battle of Endor and the events of The Force Awakens, and we’re excited to take our first step into that space.

Obviously I wish I could tell you more about the story, but I can’t just yet. What I can reveal is that you will be introduced to a sweeping new cast of characters, along with a fan favorite from the films. And who knows what other familiar faces will pop up along the way? And once you’ve seen The Force Awakens in movie theaters, you may find that certain names and places in Aftermath have a relevance you never knew–so keep your eyes wide open!

Hope it's better than Truce at Bakura.

Also it brings up a point which I thought was a totally stupid addition in the ROTJ Special Edition: the whole wow there's mass celebrations going on all of a sudden. How did all of these other planets know that The Emperor was dead all of a sudden.

They have faster-than-light travel, so it stands to reason that also have, you know, telephones.

But who knew the Emperor was dead at that moment other than Luke and a dying Vader. Was someone else in the room hiding out texting Cloud City when Palpatine got tossed down the shaft? Let's face it, just a dumb moment for Lucas to add more dopey CGI (Cloud City celebration looks like something off a late 90's sci-fi channel tv movie) and silly new age Yanni music.

Do you think it was unreasonable for everyone to assume the Emperor and Vader were dead once the thing went supernova? And who's to say Luke didn't get on the horn to Ackbar or Mon Mothma once he flew the shuttle out of the hangar? The Rebels had foresight enough to bring along fireworks, so they obviously had some sort of party-planning network set up.

Probably went something like this, "Yo Acky, just to let you know that old Sith Queen is dead..word."

The celebration weren't literally taking place immediately after Palpatine and Vader died.

Well, it depends on what one means by 'at that moment' or 'all of a sudden'.

By the time the funeral pyre was lit there was more enough time for word to spread that Palpatine and Vader were dead.

The editing of both Star Wars and the original editions of Jedi are kind of odd with regard to time. They cut very abruptly from immediate post-game celebrations and reunions to ceremonies that could, for all we know, be taking place days or even weeks later.

Time is different in a galaxy far far away. In The Empire Strikes Back Luke is with Yoda for a total of 10 minutes on Dagobah for training while Han, Leia and Chewy were being trailed by Vader.

It all depends on when Luke was cremating Vader. It definitely looks synchronized, at that moment and comes back to the celebration at the ewok camp where everyone that was fighting the battle were partying. So could have been a week or less....

There would be a LOT of things to do right after such a battle. Spreading news of the victory of course to avoid unnecessary bloodshed in other parts of the galaxy (where Empire outposts would be likely to fight to the Death unless shown that their highest level hierarchy does not exist anymore), wiping out/ accepting surrender of pockets of resistance on major worlds (such as Coruscant) and tending to the wounded and taking care of the dead comes to mind...
