Normally I don't do requests, but I've been getting a lot of emails, with people asking me to do Vacation covers. After some thinking, I decided to go with it, and this is just a work in progress.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have used artwork with the highest resolution possible for all four movies and then cleaned them up a bit, and restored some colors. Then I cut out title treatments for Vacation and European Vacation from high quality dvd cover scans. Made title treatment for Christmas Vacation after finding proper font, and also did the title treatment for Vegas Vacation as well. Extended the artwork for Christmas to the entire cover and re-did the gradient on Vegas Vacation, and then also extended it to the entire thing. Another update should come soon. |

I really like these covers! I know you didnt ask but I thought Id give my humble opinion anyway, I think the lighting from the photo from Rush Hour 2 and the Yellow you have chosen are a little to similar. Their skin tone seems to be almost bleeding into that yellow. Id try a different shade of yellow or try purple. But amazing job none the less, its not like Im talented enough to be able to do this kind of thing.

I did this one a while back using the theatrical poster: ![]() and this for T2. ![]() PM me and I'll send them to you. BTW, it was only a few months back I posted these in this very forum, so this sort of redundancy may not be necessary. I just wanted to do the polite thing and actually answer a request (a topic of contention here just recently). Last edited by Nissen; 02-06-2013 at 03:02 PM. Reason: bloody typos! |

My most recent Bond assignment.
The Everything or Nothing documentary was recently released on PAL DVD in the UK, so this is actually a DVD in Blu clothing. I refer to the poster as the "last supper" poster :-) And again, this is a client exclusive so not available to share. Sorry. ![]() |

Still working on this WIP:
![]() I always like to use era-specific studio logos and I have a high res version of the 1963 UA logo (On that note, how great was it to see Affleck use the 1979 era WB logo on the front of "Argo"...for those of us around at that time these logos are highly nostalgic like "Welcome back, old friend". I know with the James Bond 007 movies I grew up with the TransAmerica UA logo (1967-1983) and (to me) that always was a signal that I was about to embark on two hours of 007 escapist fun.) ![]() I would have searched the thread for them but I've only just realised that you can do that - from another members post. --- Also, aimed at all members: Can anybody, especially people within the UK, point me in the direction of a good printer to print these covers with? Also, what paper is the best to use? Links would be great/helpful/appreciated. Regards Last edited by T101; 02-06-2013 at 02:46 PM. Reason: Added content to avoid double post |

Thanks Nissen...Compliments from you is high praise indeed.
Perhaps the biggest challenge so far was the spine TT. Every version of the TT I came across was a 3-deck TT. I had to build strands of barbed wire to go behind the lettering. Since the barbed wire is obscured by the TT in the posters - this involved using the History tools to match ends of the wire peices so that I could constitute an entire wire to run behind the spine TT. I had to do something similar to reconstitute the swirl on the end of "Nile" for my "The Jewel of the Nile" custom cover (where the swirl was covered up by the word "Jewel". Two of the stills on the back cover were from the original lobby cards and were showing their age. After trying to tweak them I decided rather than try to fight the aged look, to fully embrace it. So, I worked the hue and saturation of the more recent still (McQueen reentering the camp) to make it more closely match the 1963 era stills. Then I located some old paper texture from EFX's resource library and placed them on the paper. Finally I used the Burn tool to age the ends of the paper more. The artwork and stills create a nice border for a synoposis and special features listing. If the eventual Blu-ray is light on the special features I will packege it with the Special Features heavy DVD I own so I'll use that listing, and create an alternate custom cover sans special features for people who don't already own the DVD. I have limited time to make those changes over the next few days but hopefully will have an update for the weekend. Last edited by DrrnHarr; 02-06-2013 at 08:38 PM. |

Does anyone have custom slipcover templates? I'm trying to design some and I can get by with the templates that Illest has so graciously provided us, but as far as the slipcovers go, I'd like to include the blue banners across the top that different studios use. I've found one for Lionsgate from a very high-definition image of one of their covers and I have an existing template that includes Warner's template, but I'd love one for, say, Universal studios (the original that was just the Blu-ray logo in the middle, if possible.) Any help would be appreciated.

Last night, a bottle of water spilled on my first movie rack (with my A-D titles) and about 50 of my paper cover art inserts got wet and warped.
![]() So I thought I would use this as an excuse to learn how to print covers, but I do not have a printer. Is this something I could do at kinko's? And if so, could someone help me with the details. I am assuming I could take a flash drive to kinko’s with the cover arts jpegs, but what kind of paper should I buy? And what size? Is there anything else I need to know? Any info is greatly appreciated. I was CRUSHED when this happened last night. My movie collection means everything to me. Thanks. |
