Thank you. I appreciate your offer. I will let you know. I guess my biggest question is what kind of paper to use (brand, finish, size) and any other tips???

I would like a custom Blu-ray cover of Howard The Duck made, but here's the thing; I would like the front of my UK DVD used, as it has been signed by Lea Thompson and Tim Rose. With the back featuring the specs from the German release. Obviously the UK certification can be removed...

Is this possible at all?

Default Ideal Printer for Printing Cover Art Inserts?

If I were to buy a printer for the specific purpose of printing my own custom covers, what would be the ideal printer (technology type, brand, etc.) that is still relatively inexpensive?

And what kind of paper should I buy to print them on (size, finish, brand)? Is there anything else I need to know? Extra software I would need?

I'm looking for responses from members with a lot of experience in this area. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I always use a laser printer with glossy paper (for laser). Sometimes in a store like Staples or somethimes at my job, especially for double-side printing (that's a bit tricky to make it fit, but I make an Illustrator file that I re-use).

Thanks! Is laser better than ink jet for printing covers?

by far yes! The inkjet prints are much more sensitive to water (humidity) and UV rays.

I just read online that ink jets are better for photos, and that is mainly what the covers are. Hmmm, decisions...

I use both. Laser for custom packages like Alien and Star Wars boxset (I like uniformity, I buy amaray and make covers) and inkjet for kids' copies. I prefer laser like I said (but I don't own one cause of the cartidges prices, too expensive for me).

I suggest that you try both in a store that make prints for you. With the same cover, you will be able to compare.

My first blu cover. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The families HP movies are different editions so I thought it would be a good place to start. I am using GIMP

That's a nifty idea. My question is, what are you going to do once you get to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?

The special features and credits are a bit hard to read with the background. Maybe add a solid color with some transparency behind it so it'll stand out?

I'll put both in one case for year 7 at least that's my plan

You mean like a block of color behind won't that interfere with the art don't you think. I'll try it though.

Thanks for the input so far

Hi All:
I want to upload some custom covers I made but I'm not sure how to upload the files. I didn't see any instructions on the first page of the thread. Can anybody help me out? I created the cover and uploaded it into Imandix but not sure how to upload to this site.

THANKS,
Steve
