Not really Van Damme films, but I highly recommend Universal Soldier 3 & 4.

Bloodsport
Lionheart/Wong Bet

Seen most of Van Damme's films, but The Shepherd has been collecting dust on my shelf since I bought it in 2008. I guess I should take it for a spin this weekend.

My most watched Van Damme Blus are Double Impact and Lionheart (MVD versions), which I also consider his best two films. Also discs I enjoy watching are Replicant, Double Team, Hard Target (Kino), Street Fighter, Timecop. Would like a new version of Bloodsport and a US version of Knock Off.

I would argue that Nowhere To Run is his most underrated film.

For me:-

In Hell

Hard Target

Universal Soldier

But I’ll be honest it’s tough….

Bloodsport
Nowhere to Run
Lionheart
Maximum Risk
And Wake of Death are all top notch in my opinion and any one could also make the top three aswell. It’s so close.

I need to give honorary mentions to Uni Sols: Regeneration and Day of Reckoning aswell.

Bloodsport
Kickboxer
Double Impact

If you are not too much into martial arts and more of a gun blazing action guy, I'd exchance the first two recommendations with Hard Target and Universal Soldier.

Hard Target is such a weird "Van Damme movie" for me, I feel like he was miscast in that, it probably would have been better with someone else in the lead role, I'm picturing Liam Neeson for some reason, I bet he could have pulled off the accent better and not just sounded Belgian. Mel Gibson probably, too. It's usually in the back of my mind when I'm thinking about his films, but at the same time I don't think I'd change it, it's a very odd mix that works despite feeling awkward most of the time.

Replicant is a movie most people sleep on, his double performance in that is awesome! Some nice memes in that one

Van Damme deserves no less than five recommendations!

1. Hard Target
2. Lionheart
3. Timecop
4. Bloodsport
5. Nowhere to Run

Universal Soldier is juuuuuuuust outside the top five.

There have been lots of great action stars. But at his best - from playful to soulful to lethal - I'd rank Van Damme #1.
I think I have all the JCVD starring vehicles that made it to Blu but here (chronologically) are a dozen I'd rate as personally indispensable:

Bloodsport(1988)
Kickboxer(1989)
Double Impact(1991)
Universal Soldier(1992)
Timecop(1994)
Sudden Death(1995)
Double Team(1997)
Knock-Off(1998)
Legionnaire(1998)
Replicant(2001)
JCVD(2008)
Pound of Flesh(2015)
