You're joking right? You at least have to be the best player on the team to win it and he was no where close to that. Worse player ever to win the award.

There have been a lot of crappy Heisman winners. Heck, Troy Smith won in a landslide, only to end his college career like this...

Quote:
Smith's college football career came to an end on January 8, 2007, when he and the Ohio State Buckeyes were beaten by the Florida Gators in the 2007 BCS National Championship Game, 41-14. Smith completed just four of 14 passes for 35 yards along with an interception, a fumble, and was sacked five times.
I really wish they'd vote on the Heisman AFTER the postseason. Seems like most of the time the Heisman winner is garbage in the bowl game.

Gino had 3 ints his last game and gave Bama the game all by himself. I don't like Gino can you tell?

Nah, Testaverde had a much worse bowl game performance after winning the Heisman. He single-handedly blew the de-facto national title game to a much inferior Penn St. team with 5 turnovers.

I stand corrected. It wasn't me this time that's picking on the U.

Your biased dislike for Miami is really showing with this post. Worst Heisman winner ever? That leaves me speechless with how untrue that statement is. I honestly can't comprehend how one can come to that conclusion.

I agree, Testaverde had a horrible game. However, that does not take away from the fact that he was the best regular season college football player that year and deserved the Heisman. The voters knew what they were doing.

What? You think Gino was the best player on that team? Come on now. I don't dislike Miami, then. I don't care about them they were fun as hell to watch. I don't like them now because they are an ACC team that CU recruits against. I'm not like SEC fan and pull for conference foes. I want all ACC teams to lose all games, except FSU the rest of the way so my Tigers can go back to the BCS and hopefully not get embarrassed again. And possibly end up in the top 3 with the final poll.

Torretta's numbers were: 19 TD, 7 INT, 3,060 Yards passing

Those numbers are ok, but Marshall Faulk should have won the Heisman that year. Torretta won mainly because he played for a bigger name program.

Yeah, but look at the defenses Faulk faced while playing for San Diego State. It's like Carr and Bridgewater this year, amazing stats but look who they have played. Toretta put up great numbers at a top tier program. (offenses didn't pass as much back then)

Miami has always thrown the ball well. That's how they got the QB Univ. moniker. Gino was no Faulk. I think everyone on that team would tell you the same, except Gino of course.

Damn the smear campaign is alive and real. ESPN reporting about Jameis Winston and other players were question about a BB gun and some broke windows. Oh and he might have sole some soda from a restaurant, what the hell does that have to do with what is going on right now? Its official ESPN has turn into TMZ.

Yeah, Winston does seem to be public enemy number one right now in the sports world. I saw a report on ESPN this morning that 20% of Heisman ballots are expected to leave him off of it.

I think that is so unfair if he is innocent. He still has not been charged with a crime yet, so why not vote for him? Ok lets stay he gets charged later on down the line, then take it from him and give it to the next guy. Didn't Reggie Bush have to give his back? I think its unfair for the voters to say "oh well he will win it next year" tomorrow isn't promise to no one.

Just wait, soon they'll be reduced to headlines like "Winston hates kitty cats, character in question again!".

I know Bush was told to give it back, but I don't know if he actually did. I hope he didn't. He won that on the field, they had no right to try and take it from him.

Even if 20% leave him off the ballot he'd likely still win. That would mean nearly all of the other 80% put him down as their #1 choice. A lot of writers left Cam Newton off the ballot and he still won easily.
