I got the Leopard, Mystery Train, Revanche, and the Sanjuro/Yojimbo boxset for $97.42 total shipped!

I hate how the Leopard is in a bigger box.

Just a question, but does the Sanjuro/Yojimbo boxset feature one new number? How am I supposed to display my set when it doesn't fit in chronologically?

If I order Bottle Rocket do you know if it will come in the clear case or will I have to order a replacement from Criterion.

I ordered some Criterions the other night and they came in these flimsy digipacks...does anyone know if Criterion has plans to make them available in the clear cases newer titles ship in?

Oh! And I looked everywhere in this thread but I couldn't find any information on how to order replacement cases.

And the cow jumped over the moon.
Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

I'm going to brag here because I got my CC BDs for $14.04 (except for Yojimbo/Sanjuro box & The Leopard) each with member discount, 50% off sale, and a coupon that was posted a few days ago letting the customer get $5 off a DVD or BD of $20 or more...the cashier rang each up individually...saved about $50 on the coupon use alone.

Discs purchased:

The Leopard
Yojimbo/Sanjuro box
Gimme Shelter
The Seventh Seal
For All Mankind
Monsoon Wedding
In the Realm of the Senses
Bottle Rocket (plastic case)
El Norte (digi)
The Last Metro (digi)
Everlasting Moments
Lola Montes
Mystery Train

Damn, I really want that Early Kurosawa Eclipse box that comes out Aug 3. So I'm guessing the 50% off preorders are only for those that get released before Aug 1?

Hopefully, we can redirect everyone to put their B&N sale lists to the "B&N 50% off" thread in the Deals section. That's a good place for people to boast about their purchases.

CC
I just stopped by my local B & N and got Crumb for 75% off!!!!!

I promise not to make yet another list...but I will say that I was prompted to spend the money to get a membership for at least this year. It's usually $25, but with all the titles I picked up today, it only cost me $9. If I buy any more, it might even pay for itself...hey...there's still the November sale.

Thanks for the abuse CC...sometimes it works out favorably.

UPDATE: Barnes & Nobles has eliminated the use of coupons. It was working hours ago but now, you will see under each Criterion release:

This item does not qualify for coupons or promotional discounts unless expressly stated.

For those of you who ordered today, you may want to check your orders in your account to see if you were charged without the coupon.

Definitely a response to those misusing the 20% off new member account coupon... But it sucks because it prohibits anyone else from using the other coupons, including members who purchased a membership.

I've watched one film off the set so far and "Sanshiro Sugata" was very good. It does get dark (I mean very dark) during an early sequence and unfortunately, during the war, the Japanese government cut the film up. I don't know how many minutes are missing I guess in 1955 they really tried to do their best by explaining certain parts of the film (similar to "Metropolis" with the missing footage for the 2001 release). But what they have with the film is still comprehensive and enjoyable. I can't wait to watch the second film on this set. Noticed a few films on this Eclipse are not in the AK100.

And that's why I can't stand when people brag about mis-using and abusing coupons. As soon as I found out that most of the coupons were only valid for new members, I sucked it up and didn't use them.

There needs to be more studio audience sitcoms. They have been declining since the late 90's. I can't even name one that is good that is still going. I think the last good one that had a studio audience was That 70's Show, and the best one of the 90's was Married With Children.

The only things that are good anymore are NFL Network and The Office.

What? You're just now about to turn 22 and you know about the awesomeness that was Married With Children? Not to underestimate your greatness, CG, but how is that even possible? I can't imagine too many people from your generation going to back to find such a great show as that one is/was. I believe I started watching it right around when the 2nd season('87-'88) started and didn't stop watching it until its final episode. I remember it was like FOX had finally become a "real" channel after Married With Children debuted.

Dude, I watched the show when I was a kid. My parents was cool like that. I watched it like every night it was on. I know I was like 1 or 2 when the show started, but the best seasons was 95-96 IMO anyways. I grew up on that, horror movies, Mr. Bean, and late night talk shows. I remember I use to watch it with my hand down my pants like Al did.

Edit:
It actually started in 1987, so I wasn't even born yet.

I called it numerous times months ago. There was so much rampant abuse of the coupon system last time that there was no way they were going to let it slip again this time.

Fortunately, my order was put in last night with some coupons BUT I didn't abuse the system in anyway as I have NEVER ordered online from B&N so the 20% coupon was legit in my case.

Well, like Married With Children there were plenty of great shows in the past that were off the air before most of us were born.

There was a great time in my teenage life when Nick At Nite on Nickelodeon would show The Donna Reed Show, The Patty Duke Show, and Dobie Gillis back-to-back, and I would eat those shows up like Lucky Charms.

The great thing, though, is that there are always some kids that stick out from the crowd just enough that they'll take the time to find out about the older stuff and find an appreciation for it.

QUOTE=ianungstad;3493721]MGM licensed all the films produced by David Selznick (including the Hitchcocks) and the films produced by ABC/Palomar (including Straw Dogs) from the Walt Disney Company. When MGM's distribution agreement runs out, Criterion could negotiate for these films again. (and other titles, it's a library that covers about 100 titles) Criterion can't license them from MGM because MGM doesn't own the films and it would most certainly be a violation of their agreement.

This isn't unusual. We only got Stagecoach because Warners decided not to renew the distribution on the films owned by the Caidin trust. Coppola recently took the films he owns away from Paramount and over to Lionsgate, as another recent example.

Another good chunk of MGM's library including films like The Graduate is actually owned by Studio Canal. Wouldn't be surprised if MGM lost the rights to those films soon-ish.
[/QUOTE]

wow, lots of good info there.
I didn't realize that so many of the mgm films were licensed from Disney.
I wonder when those licenses expire or if the sale of mgm would possibly effect all that.
anyway, thanks for the info.

Even though I was a kid, I remember alot of the 90's (the best of):

Married With Children
MTV Shows (Beavis and Butthead, Singled Out, actual music videos)
Mr. Bean
Boy Meets World
The Grunge movement
The Arsenio Hall Show
Tarantino (Jackie Brown)
Cartoons
(The last of the good ones, before Cartoon Network came and destroyed what cartoons was.)

I know I can list more, and don't judge me on some of this. I was a kid.

Plus they showed all of the old stuff like Good Times and Justice League cartoons.

Interesting. I'm in for a set. Plus, David Faustino is friends with "Parker Lewis" (Corin Nemec) and we all know that he "can't lose."

And Corin Nemec was in "Sea Beast" on SyFy a weekend or two ago.
