No, it's not. This particular sub-forum is for deals. There are plenty of other sub-forums where you can discuss blurays. I too would like to see actual deals being posted in these deal threads.

You might want to go back and read the last 100 pages of this thread. People constantly get into debates about Coupons, Packaging, Region Coding etc..
it helps create an atmosphere where we can learn about one another. I know i've helped clarify more than a few questions for people that were NOT specifically related to cost. If you only looking for prices and NOTHING else go to RFD.

Well ideally there would be more than a few active threads. However the trend here is to aggressive condense everything down into a limited number of theads. That's why a given thread called 'New releases for Feb 7' contains multiple mixed discussions about various titles, pricing, coupons, retailers, and Disney. I'd prefer if the half dozen releases each had their own thread, however I'm not in charge.

Keep in mind that if a sub-discussion is about a given movie or director, there are other more appropriate discussion forums for that which attract more participants. This just happens to be a hangout area for Canadians.

Yes, this is a deals forum, but like all other forums/threads side-discussions are bound to happen. As long as people continue to post deals (and they do) I see nothing wrong with this.

I was trying to bring the debate between 2 forum members to an end by rationally explaining the 2 different sides NOT complaining or making demands about people stopping their discussion. and since you are not a MOD you really have no right to tell people what they can/ cant do Big Brother.
