Have you considered doing or perhaps Nelson about doing a custom for "Airport"?

So, just for fun I started doing this. Still a WIP and I'm not sure what to do with it from here. I understand there is a decent Blu-Ray doing the rounds on ebay, taken from a reasonably new transfer. But all a bit unofficial...

I need to find my Imandix licence key, but yeah...

Should say "BARRY NELSON as JIMMY BOND".

But for real, it looks great. Nice 50s paperback quality to it.

Thanks very much, here's the final version.

This is my first custom cover, so constructive criticism is appreciated.

This will assume that people will compile the single disc Blu-ray with the 2-disc Collector's Edition DVD (hence the extensive Special Features listing):

One of my custom Poseidon Adventure blu-ray covers I made. (I don't know how to imbed it image into the thread, so I had to attach a reduced file size-which affected clarity).

Very nice. I like the borderless approach to the front. That is just the standard retail back, yes?

I did a custom for a client a year or so back, and he wanted the vintage poster too.
Here are a few of the unused designs and the final cover. He found my first proposals far too modern, and as you can see we wound up with a near perfect replica of the original poster in the end. I would say your version lands somewhere in between.

If you look closely you'll see that the Fox logo on the spine is upside-down. That was my client's fun request, and you won't believe how many people have been puzzled by it. :-)

This was since picked up by the Poseidon Adventure fanclub and is distributed by them through their Facebook pages. With the consent of both the client and myself, of course. One of the guys who emailed me actually contributed to the Bonus Features on this disc.

I've bee thinking, for every cover I do there are usually several unused designs that get discarded for one reason or other. I should maybe do a post of Unused Designs someday. Put them up for adoption, as someone may like them and want me to finish them.

Why is it that the studios never want to use the poster art for the front of their home video releases anymore?

Its a vexing question but it probably has something to do with royalties. Whenever possible I try to use the original theatrical posters (my James Bond Collection was built using them) but I am not adverse to choosing something else if there is something I feel is better.

My "Battle of Britain" custom cover originally sported the original theatrical release poster but I eventually decided the art used for the DVD cover and subsequent Blu-ray was more compelling. I did however use the flag "swirl" effect on the back cover.

Nissen: That's interesting that you were contacted by a fanclub. After I did my "Raise the Titanic" cover I was contacted by a fanclub of that movie (I know --- how bizarre is that) that I believe had worked on some special features.

Hey Nissen,

Great work on The Poseidon Adventure customs! My back is partial retail standard for the bottom and the 2 smaller photos up top but at a higher resolution. However, I chose to insert a photo of the upside down ship (and I replaced the Hackman/Shea photoshop) pic.

I like the artwork running the full length on the front cover but in order to resize it to spec a good portion of the artwork needs to be cut off from the sides though.

I think I like your full art with black border design the my fave. GREAT WORK!

PS Do you mind if I ask how you imbed the full resolution image into a thread? I had to reduce my file (sacrificing resolution) and attach. You can PM me if you like.

THANKS!
-steve

Disregad the request... found some great images for Dredd, the phantom, Wizards, and a couple of other movies. Thanks though....

Judge Dredd?????

Anyone have any artwork for Judge Dredd? The Stallone version? The cover art that they use is horrendous.

Actually any dredd art work would be appreciated... Willing to trade some art work/images... have lots of art work from many of the older science fiction series if anyone is interested in swapping art work...

I have artwork from shows like... uh... airwolf, First Wave, Friday the 13th, he series, the Invaders, Good vs Evil, NCIS, Space Above & Beyond, RipTide, Lois & Clark and many others. Some are good pieces and others are just... pieces. I use to collect images from everywhere... magazines, posters, etc. Most of it is old stuff/shows though.

My latest from Nissen.
ParaNorman based on the great alternative poster by Dave Perillo. I really loved the look of this poster especially the colours used. I also think it gives off a Scooby Doo vibe which i love about it.
