I dozed off watching Zodiac. Mank wasn’t much better either. Other than those two mishaps, Fincher is an all-time great IMO.

They can criticize them all they want. Both take beloved franchises with established rules and turn them on their heads. Naturally many people won't like that. That's okay. I love them both but they are not perfect by any means. I hate Eisenberg as Lex L. It's just that both Snyder and Zombie have a very distinct filmmaking style that resonates a lot with me. More so than let's say Nolan's style of filmmaking. He is by no means a bad filmmaker. He's never made a bad movie imo. But at the same time not every movie he makes is an instant masterpiece in my book. His true masterpiece imo is Interstellar. One of my all time favorite movies.
