Is it great? No. But considering I am using an ancient Adobe PhotoDeluxe 2.0 and I have quite meager skills... it suits my needs. If anyone does want it, PM me.
No need to apoligize. You should see my first custom cover (it was for 1980s "Flash Gordon"). I keep it out there just to remember how far I have come doing custom covers.

I was surprised that someone contacted me the other day to ask for a "Skyfall" version to go with my first 007 series (the white spines set), because I moved onto the black and gold with original TT set sometime ago.

I had a trivia item on the back of my "Von Ryan's Express" cover and I was wondering if people think that works for custom covers....For "Escape to Athena" I thought I might include:

"William Holden appears as a cigar-smoking prisoner-of-war. Elliott Gould walks by Holden and asks him, "Are you still here?" This POW bit-scene was an in-joke reference to Holden's starring role in Stalag 17 twenty-five years earlier. Holden was in a relationship at the time with actress Stefanie Powers who was appearing in the movie."

What do people think?

Thanks for the kind words. I have tried to use less-ancient Adobe PhotoShop programs, but all the options made my brain hurt... so I stick with what I sort-of know how to use.

I really wanted to have something resembling original poster artwork on the front. Still, with Futureworld, the art I liked the most was used in a Region 2 DVD release, so I went with that. The 1976-era Futureworld posters just didn't do much for me: the head with the screwdriver prying off the face? Fonda and Danner running out of a giant round safe door?

I was 4 when this film came out and still remember watching it from the back of the family truckster at The Montague Drive-In in Nashville in 1973. The Gunslinger's missing face shots scared the crap out of me and stayed with me long afterward...

And I thought I was a dinosaur for still using Photoshop 6.

That cover is really great: you've got a good eye for composition.

I don't suppose someone would be willing to do a new zero dark thirty cover?
I'm no artist, and suck at that kind of stuff. But the regular cover is horrendous!

We do the covers ourselves. I got started because I became tired of how MGM would never release the 007 movies with their original poster art. Now, I put together covers for fun.

If you want someone to put a cover together though (referred to as a commission), the best forum member to approach is Nissen.

Incidentally, I see the Special Features listing for "The Great Escape" has been announced. Expect a reworked custom cover (to fit in with my WWII Collection) with the features listing:

Special Features:
Audio Commentary by Director John Sturges, Cast & Crew
The Great Escape: Bringing Fact to Fiction
The Great Escape: Preparations for Freedom
The Great Escape: The Flight to Freedom
The Great Escape: A Standing Ovation
The Great Escape: The Untold Story
The Great Escape: The Untold Story – Additional Interviews
A Real Virgil Hilts: A Man Called Jones
Return to The Great Escape
Original Theatrical Trailer

Sometimes Content Aware Fill (introduced in CS5) and Content Aware Move (introduced in CS6) aren't always that smart.

Even though I have CS6 with both functions I still often use the old methods with the History Brushes and clone tools.

You mean I'm the only one still using MS Paint?

I've been happy with PS7.

It would be interesting to find out what versions of Photoshop people do use for their covers.

I would never have bought Adobe Creative Suite 6 at its commercial price, which I think is about $3,000, but I was able to pick it up with my student discount (+ an additional discount deal my school worked out with Adobe) for $200.

I just had to have Acrobat Pro, InDesign and Illustrator since I use those programs too.
