Makes me wonder if the new XV30f would blend with my XS30 since mine is sealed and the XV30f is ported, I would consider buying one
Using ported with sealed can work, but it would be better to add a second subwoofer more like the original.

I love my XS30 and 2 would be great to have, although I really don't know if I need another, but I fell in Love with the look of the new XV30f.

Gave me the bug to want to get one.

That XV30f is intriguing indeed. I wonder what kind of advantage that would have over my XV15..

Ha, not so crazy, looks like you finally found what you liked and want to keep for awhile. And that's Good.

Same extension and overall sound quality, but you'll gain approximately 4dB of additional output. That may not seem like much but it would be about the same as dual XV15s in adjacent room corners.

The footprint is actually a bit smaller on the new XV30f too..

Yes,I got tired of the speaker merry go round. Plus I like the 3d nature of the Logan's and sound insane for music and movies. Thoroughly besting the Mirages in every way. JMO of course.

I don't listen really loud, but I do like midbass for music..Nice punch. Is the vx30f or xs30 better in that regards or is that a non issue comparing the xv15?

The XS30 will have a very slight advantage in max output capabilities in the 40-100hz range...but slight. We're talking a dB or so. At the maximum output levels in discussion (125dB or so at most seating positions in a normal size room)....I wouldn't expect an audible advantage either way. The big performance differences will be the XS30 extending a bit deeper if the room isn't too large and the XV30f having a fair advantage in output capabilities in the 15-35hz range.

So,I'm guessing since I don't listen too loud,it might not matter. I probably get the receiver down to -25. I also suppose the sub won't pressurize the room unless you are listening pretty loud. I guess my question is,there is no way to get the subs to pressurize the room at lower volumes?

Not really, at least how "pressurize the room" is generally used in these discussions. The "pressurize room" comment is usually used to describe very deep, loud bass which causes a feeling of pressure on your ear mechanism along with other effects.

You may be looking for what most call mid/upper bass "kick" or "slam". This is when the 40-100hz gunshots, kick drum, whatever is reproduced loud enough to feel like you are being tapped in the chest. At the beginning of the effect, it may feel like a very light tap. At extreme levels...it can feel like a 2x4 "tapping" you..

Your right Tom. I don't think I've ever felt that in my room. Probably because I don't listen loud enough or maybe its the placement.

Well, a prerequisite for these "pressurized the whole room" comments begins with very loud playback levels in most cases. Same goes for the "this sub kicks so hard it blurred my vision" type comments.

It could be you just don't push the listening levels high enough. Or, a single XV15 may not be up to the performance levels required to initiate this type of emotional response from the listener(s). The XV15 is good, but every product has limits..

Have you been in a room that provided the type of bass pressurization you mention here? If so, could you provide details(room environment and subs to start)? Thanks.

Not with subs. I was in the Magnolia Design Center,he demo'd some B&W 800's for me. I felt it hit me in the chest with those, but it was a treated room and they were pretty loud.
Is this odd? I have my 15" Jamo and XV15 on 180 phase,to me the bass sounded better integrated with the Martin Logan ESL's.. It sounded smoother..

The phase setting is similar to a time delay. So there will never be a correct setting for any specific room layout. The idea is to "time" the output of the subwoofer so the bass arrives at the seating position in a non destructive manner(cancellation). The receiver's auto setup routine will often handle this via its "distance" settings.

The thing I don't understand is.. When I have the phase at 180,the bass sounds more even with the front speakers during music and not over powering. Its still deep, but not as full, but it just sounds like it matches the speakers. I can hear the singer or band better. I don't know if that makes sense, the way I'm describing it.
PS,I have both subs on 180,the XV15 and Jamo.

You say that like it's a bad thing, which it's not. The phase can be adjusted for that very reason, so you can tailor the sound to whatever works best for you. Personally I'd just enjoy the new found clarity.

Oh,trust me I do like it a lot. Everything is clear ,plus the bass. I did notice in movies ,if I put it back to 0,that worked better for movies..

Someone once said...."without measurements, we're just guessing"

The phase control(in a subwoofer to speaker relationship) will usually only affect a fairly narrow bandwidth near the crossover point used. So if you have all of your speakers set to small/80hz the area effected would tend to be in the 70-90hz area. So when you adjust the phase you are raising/lowering this bandwidth's volume relative to the rest of the frequency spectrum. How you interpret this change is based on your own personal preferences and the source material.

My PHASE on the subs is at 180, on this setting it has more bass, i still find it wierd but it is what it is, i did a 80hz test tone were my X-Over is, and at 180 i get like 3db more output, and if i have it at 0 it drops almost 10db.
