How much of this game is actually RPG? I'm not into RPGs at all as I tend to get bored really fast. And I've never played the dark souls games. But from what little gameplay video I've seen the action elements look great. I'm really tempted to pick it up.

A great video imo that covers the whole lore/ story behind the game (with some degree of assumptions/ guesswork):
Have now seen all three endings (defeated The Moon Presence last night), and trying to decide if I want to either play NG+ or mostly do Chalice dungeon runs this week end. Also got a project of doing a "full clear" (killing everything in the non Nightmare/ Lecture Hall/ Cainhurst areas with my pre- Moon presence fight save -ergo all Bosses dead-, without returning to the Hunter's Dream, and without dying even once), to see if it is doable... |

Despite what they want to call it, it's not like an RPG. It's only RPG-like in that you get XP that you apply to stats like strength, stamina, vitality, etc. and weapons that you can upgrade.

The only things missing from a RPG are Quests and Classes really (all players are "Hunters"). Otherwise: Deep Character Creation system: Check "Story" Profile that influence your stats: Check "Ongoing story" that you have to figure out: Check Vast number of areas to travel to: Check Gaining Xp to level up: Check Increasing your stats and putting points where you chose when leveling: Check Improving your weapons with a sort of crafting: Check Gathering collectibles, keys, craft items, parts and consumables: Check Drops, including weapons and gear: Check Different suits or armor with various types of resists: Check Treasure chests in remote locations: Check Moral choices with consequenes for both you, NPCs, and a different set of endings (3): Check ... ![]() |

![]() Close to finishing NG+ and I've been using the Hunter's Axe the entire time I've played this game. I just love that spin attack. |

Your description sounds almost like Destiny. See the post above which illustrates how I feel about this. You can use your starting weapons, starting outfit, default character, almost never speak to NPCs (kill them all actually) and still get everything you might want out of this game, unless you are interested in the complexities of story. You actually can play this game like it's not anything like an RPG other than applying XP to stats and upgrades to weapons. |

I'm not too well versed in Lovecraft lore but, wow, more incentive to finish the game.
Bloodborne really nails the whole “Lovecraftian Horror” thing. http://kotaku.com/https-www-youtube-...you-1697067199 |
