One UK review says the atmos track on Sony has a tiny middle channel and that the UK one fixes it.. Anyone know anything about this?

Apparently the first person that Besson approached for the role of Rhod was the late mega-musician Prince, who turned down the role as he had no interest in camping it up. Fairly obvious who Tucker based his performance on!

Oi people!
First message here and just a quick question.
So this is definitely the only version out there that gets Dolby Vision, right?
I can't believe how this fine pice of release almost went under my radar.
Thank you all for your great contributions to the community.
Have a nice weekend.

Looks like amazon.uk has changed their way of handling orders which contain stock and pre-orders.

Did order Fifth and FMJ together. Usually they would always split the order. But now it looks like I'll have to wait to the end of Sep for my Fifth 4K..

I can of course manually switch to "delivery as fast.." but shipping costs are much higher that way.

What do you mean by "middle channel?" Top Middle overhead speakers? Front screen wall center channel?

At the moment Yes it is. Given it has so many distributors it's possible someone out there will give it a DV release in another country.

It's also the only one as far as I know to be on a 100Gb disc where as every other release is on a 66Gb disc.

To sum it up:
The US Sony UHD is HDR10
The German Universal UHD is HDR10
The Australian Madman UHD is HDR10
The UK Studio Canal UHD is Dolby Vision.

Finally picked up a copy in HMV this morning. The guy at the till commented on it, saying it’s been flying off the shelves. Interesting. Does seem to be a big seller, what with the shortages reported last week.

I wonder what "flying off the shelves" means in HMV in 2020. Have to admit I've often been surprised when I've gone to pick up a 4K from them upon release and they've already sold out or have one copy left. Either they don't order much in or 4K sells a lot better than I thought in this country.

Has been interesting seeing these stock shortages recently though (Star Wars, BTTF) which is something I wouldn't have expected happening much on 4K.

According to the staff in my local Fopp about a year ago. They sell a lot.

I think it's more that they're just not pressing untold amounts of these, they're being wary (like Warners and Sony are in the US with their catalogue stuff) and rightly so in the current home video climate. But if they're selling out of their initial allocations then that's a nice message to send to the studios, especially here in the UK where the reaction to 4K disc was almost one of outright hostility. I basically quit posting on AVF because of the brain-hurting combination of nay-saying Luddites and spreaders of technical ignorance/misinformation. It may have changed and it's now a 4K paradise over there but eh, **** 'em.

And bear in mind that this TFE disc has been produced for the UK only, it's not one of StudioCanal's usual multi-territory kinda deals, so that also accounts for the low initial print run. But it's great that they deemed the UK 4K market worthy enough of this release in the first place and it's an even greater thing that it's selling so well.

There's nothing wrong with steenbok. It's a perfectly cromulent word.

Yeah, I expect under-stocking by the stores is probably more the case re: selling out (I remember my local HMV being shocked that they had sold out of the M:I 1-5 4K set by midday on release day) but the studios must have enough confidence in sales for them to think these releases are worth it, even on our tiny little isle. I mean re-packaging an international product for a UK release is one thing but sales must be a lot better than I thought for SC to consider a local release like this - or maybe they know the market and assume that a better version of the film will get a decent number of purchases from overseas as well. Still, love what StudioCanal are doing and great to see Arrow getting on board as well.

Very interested to see what happens when the next console generation kicks in. We could see another 100 million people with a 4K player over the next few years. Whether people choose to use them for playing films on disc is another thing.
