Sorry if it's been mentioned before but anyone know if the AVRX6300H will get a Dolby Vision firmware update? I ordered the 6300 and I think I read somewhere that it will but can't seem to find what I read now.

So here's a new problem: the HDMI pass-through doesn't switch inputs. So, if I turn off my receiver with CBL/SAT selected and now I want to pass through to my XBox One S without turning on the receiver, I have to dig out the remote and press GAME to pass the signal though. That would be ok if I wasn't using a Harmony 650 remote, which doesn't allow you to use devices without turning them on. I've gone through the online manual with no success. Any suggestions?

I have a question about the denon 2313, I will be getting an Xbox One X, and I was wondering if this avr will pass though 4K at 60hz, even though the avr is only HDMI 1.4 4K 30hz, or will I have to hook up the Xbox One X directly to my tv to get the full benefits of the system

I'm gonna say no, I think you need HDMI 2.0 to pass 4K 60hz, but, good luck to you. I'm sure folks with 1.4hdmi receivers and input devices that support 4k @ 60hz will let you know.

keep in mind that the XBO-X will be new and may have it's on set of compatibility issues once released as many things do.

be prepared to get a separate HDMI cable to go directly to the tv or be prepared to buy a new AVR.

Thank you for the quick reply. I hooked up the Xbox One I have now directly to the tv, to see if you can get full 7.1 audio this way, but as it turns out can only get 2.0 audio.

I guess my choices when I get the new Xbox is 4K 60hz with 2.0 audio, 4K 30hz with full 7.1 audio, or like you said getting a new AVR altogeather.

Edit, I want back and found in the Xbox settings it will output DTS and Dolby Digital + prologic ii, I am assuming the same for Blu-ray and that means no hd audio, when the system is hooked up directly to tv as is.

I want to hold out on a new AVR until they release ones with HDMI 2.1, under $1200, but with me now getting the new Xbox I am afraid I might cave in to early and get one without HDMI 2.1.

The Xbox One X won't have dual HDMI out, just one out and one In. Do you think it would be possible to split the HDMI at the Xbox One, and send it to the tv and AVR at the same time??

unless XBO-X and your current 4K tv both will have HDMI 2.1, then getting the receiver with it will not help you out at all in the chain. remember, it's everything 2.1 or everything whatever the lowest HDMI spec is in the chain.

Microsoft says the XBO-X will be HDMI 2.0b

if I were you, I'd get my sights set on a nice affordable 7 channel receiver with full HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 for all inputs and outputs, 4K @ both 60 or 30hz and ATMOS/DTS:X support (for 7.1 or 5.1.2 audio) and if you can find it, one with DV support either out of the box or with a future firmware update. I wouldn't be too worried about HDMI 2.1 of course, that's just me and what I would do. but, I have those things, so, when I get ready for a 4k tv, I'm set.

you could get that for well under the budget number you listed. I guess it will come down to what's most important to you at the time.

also, to help offset your cost, consider selling that current XBO and your current receiver that will knock off a big chunk of a new receiver with HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 inputs and outputs, just a thought!

best of luck, keep us posted.

Your right an HDMI 2.1 AVR is overkill, when my tv and devices are HDMI 2..0b. AVR's with these specs go as low as $400, depending on features how much power you want. My main towers can handle 125watts, so would want an avr that could handle them with some good headroom.

I paid around $1100, for the avr back in 2012, it was top of the line back then, and it still works like a charm. A part of me thinks, if I don't pay around the same amount on a new one it won't be as good as this one, but at the same time I know it's not true.

Will I even get a decent amount for a 5 year avr?? What do you think I could get for it?? I have plans for the OG Xbox One, it will be used in another room as an all-around media, device.

You are correct. To pass 4K 60hz, you will need at least a HDMI 2.0... HDMI 1.4 is only capable to pass up to 24/30hz.

You can go on ebay and see what other third party sellers are asking for the same item, and you can get an consensus idea on what it's worth. If the resell value is low, you may just want to keep it as a backup receiver, or give it to a family member or to a good friend as a gift. I wish electronic manufactures had a Kelly blue book value for used AV receivers like in the automotive industry because, I have a Denon stored in my closet (almost like new) repacked in it's original box from a previous upgrade, but I think I'm going to keep it. It doesn't have Dolby TrueHD nor DTS Master Audio, but it's a pretty darn good receiver, and It's hard for me to get rid of it.

all of your speakers are KLIPSCH and they are all in the 90+ efficiency realm so, shuffling across the carpet will drive them to high volumes! power is not an issue for this brand of speakers, that's what the sub is for to handle the heavy lifting and your receiver power can be used to drive the speakers to a nice volume to power the highs and the mids.

Marantz SR5012 receiver, 2017 model, offers everything I mentioned, it has full pre-outs, so, for your critical movie/music channels, you could add an external 2/3 channel external amp to power them and allow the receiver to power the remaining channels. so it affords you plenty of future if that's something you want to do, but have to wait to do it. you have ATMOS/DTS:X, 5.2.2 & DV out of the box for $999.99 so, that's in the price range you mentioned.

something to think about.

Well I'm back to being a Denon fanboy. I had a X3000 3 years ago then moved to a Marantz SR7009 for Atmos and yesterday purchased the X4300H. I upgraded my speakers in February to the Klipsch RP series and was a little surprised on how tamed they sounded. 2 weeks ago I sold my 1080p projector and Blu-Ray player making the jump to 4K. I was not planning on upgrading my Marantz but since it didn't support 4K or DTS X, I also needed Dolby Vision compatibility.

What a difference. The Marantz sounded darker in comparison. Don't get me wrong, it sounded good but the Denon beats it on every level. I purchased an SVS PB1000 last year and felt it lacked with the Marantz but it shines with the Denon. I had to turn the volume down to only 25% on the sub and the receiver set trim at -5. With the Denon I set it at 40% and my trim is now -3.5. My low end is back and much more detailed. It really hits me in the chest. The Klipsch RP's are also much more detailed, crisp and louder. The Atmos enabled speakers also more defined.

The X4300 is my 5th unit in 10 years and I am finally 100% satisfied.

Glad you're back. I have a 2015 model and still happier than ever with it. Of course it doesnt have the Dolby Vision firmwaye (yet) but I manage just fine using HDMI double connection for Dolby Vision content

I had a problem with my Marantz. I had the HDMI going to my panel, the HDMI audio out to the receiver worked fine but only when I unplugged my other components. I spoke with a tech at Marantz and they said nothing could be done. I did have to bring back for servicing twice over the years. It was a "B stock" item, became a nightmare.

What surprises me is the differences in trims between both units. When I bought my Klipsch RP's earlier this year the Marantz set then very low and my bass was very low. The Marantz sounded dead in my room in comparison.

Wow that sounds like a nightmare.
I appreciate how Denon is granting DV firmware even to lower end models. Never had any HDMI issues unless when using older HDMI cables.

Yup. It's funny because the Marantz SR7009 was their high end unit and my new X4300 is a midpoint unit and it sounds better. All I need need now is LG to apply the DV firmware and be done with it all.

Just purchased the AVR-X4300H with HEOS myself. I'll be using it as a prepro in a 7.2.4 configuration.

Thank goodness Denon comes with two HDMI Outs!

Are you using in conjunction with an amplifier, or is it more than enough to power the klipsch? I have a love of loud.
