Had similar thoughts recently about the Dolby Atmos sound tracks on The House with a Clock in its Walls and The Great Wall (this one will dust off all your speaker drivers).

Streaming is fine for some TV stuff but for movie watching, I will pass. Even most of my movie rentals is via Netflix by Mail disc.
I imported The Great Wall 3D and I still need to watch it. It's good to know that the neighbors can enjoy the soundtrack when I do so.

How was The House With A Glock In Its Walls?

I have never had the disc by mail service; maybe I should consider it?

TV shows are frequently dropping physical releases because of attitudes like that.

Steedeel, if movies are your main concern then I don't know why you are even concerned about physical media's future; they continue to sell millions of copies. Ironically the only major movies I know of that aren't getting physical releases are some of the ones on Netflix, so you're supporting the only streaming service that is preventing movies from getting physical releases.

Additionally I don't understand how anyone can be against streaming but be fine with broadcast, cable, or satellite TV. They have the same major disadvantages as streaming.

Let us know what you think of The Great Wall 3D since it is a post process 3D and if it has the Dolby Atmos soundtrack. I have the UHD version (4K DI) and the live action stuff is really detailed.

IMO, The House With A Clock In Its Walls has one of the best nuanced Dolby Atmos soundtracks that I have heard so far. Many overhead effects from beginning to end. Purchased the UHD version (2K DI) but have not watched it yet.

I would give Netflix by mail a try, they may offer a plan that has 30 day free trial period. That way you could check out The House With A Clock In Its Walls for yourself. I have the 2 At a Time Blu-ray plan and it is $14.99 a month. My average rental cost per movie is much less than digital PPV and Redbox because the closest Redbox is several miles round trip away.

I can't comment about sports because I'm not interested in them. But do you buy the physical releases of all the TV shows you watch via streaming and satellite TV? If not, you are sometimes supporting streaming or satellite TV instead of physical media.

Do I buy GOT and TWD? Too bloody true I do! Same for Bates Motel, Hannibal, American Horror Story and Wolf Creek series 1 and 2. Same goes for Twin Peaks: The Return and This Is England 86,88 and 90.

Finally, all the nature docs by the BBC.

I have not checked but I suspect that a lot of TV that we watch via Netflix is not available on disc. A good portion of our TV comes from PBS (Nature, Nova, Masterpiece, etc.) I record the shows to disk for viewing at our convenience. To do this I use a satellite tuner card a TBS6983 (replaced with a TBS6903, info here) and a Winegard 1M satellite dish. PBS uses AMC-21 satellite to distribute their programming, info here. Have a Manhattan and 3 FreeSat satellite receivers for viewing PBS in real time.

I just assumed you watched more TV shows than the 19 shows in your collection. But if that is really all you watch and you buy every show you watch on disc then I have no complaints.

All of the TV shows in your collection are nature documentaries. Are those really the only shows you watch are you just deeming the other ones as not worthy of supporting on disc?

I find it very discouraging that many of the people here who claim to be big supporters of physical media are not supporting the type of content on physical media that needs the most support. If the only things you're buying on physical media are the types of things that already sell well then you're not really doing much for the cause.

I watch a lot of stuff on broadcast. BBC, ITV and C4. Most stuff you can’t get on Blu-ray. That’s where Netflix comes in. It still gets a lot of U.K. content that I might miss on broadcast. That will obviously change in the future and I would have to look at the situation again then.

I’m currently watching the entire series of Twin Peaks: The Return. It’s bloody brilliant. (Sorry Vilya!)

That's available on Blu-ray but it isn't listed in your collection. Did you just forget to list it or did you actually choose to stream instead of buying the Blu-ray?

. There is no way on this planet Earth I would have NOT bought the collection on Blu-ray. I am a Twin Peaks fanatic. I will update it soon. Just been too busy watching all my new films and trying to get through 20 PS4 VR games.

I own the entire mystery from several years ago (bought it at full price) as well. Beatiful packaging.
The new one looks good with that jagged strip on the cover pulling away to reveal a image of ‘Dougie’ underneath.

The Great Wall 3D is region free and it does have Dolby Atmos, but, sadly, I am not Atmos equipped. I will watch it soon, but other 3D fans have told me that the 3D is quite good.

I want to completely redo the audio side of things, but it will cost a small fortune to do what I want done. I do not finance luxuries, so it is taking a little longer to acquire the resources necessary. All in due time.
