This trailer is practically, if not fully.......in spirit and feel of the originals. Furthermore, it's judge and jury on the epic fails that were the prequels. I was 10 when my dad and I went to see ANH in 1977 and I feel for anyone who saw the prequels as kids, because this trailer alone is proof that you got robbed then. I hope and pray that this movie lives up to the trailer and rights the utter wrongs that the prequels were.....

Say what you like but I wager the real reason that STAR WARS will never again find the same feeling that the original trilogy had is the unilateral rejection of it's disco roots.

Also MECO had that amazing song MOONDANCER:

If you had seen TPM when you were 10, I doubt you'd have felt robbed.

True, that is unless I saw the original 3 movies beforehand OR after.

Hardly. At 10 years of age you'd find just as many kids (and possibly more than half) thinking the OT is boring compared to the PT. I was raised on the OT, but there's a whole generation of kids that were raised on the PT and all the stuff that followed and for them their opinion of the OT can differ greatly. Ultimately fans can often be a product of their generation and regardless of whether one trilogy is superior from a critical standpoint or not (and I'm not going there) the level of enjoyment and satisfaction from each of the trilogies can be very dependent on what age you were when you first experienced them.

What's going to be really funny is watching the vehemently opposed/for PT/OT fanbase find that there's now a THIRD side to this when this trilogy comes out. No longer will it be an us or them mentality as there will be a whole new generation of opinions creating another fan group.

I am glad for all the UOT fans.
I think it's very predictable so far. We have Tie fighters, X-Wings, (Super) Star Destroyers, Luke, Leia, Han and Chewbacca, desert planets, ice planets, a fly-through pursuit that looks exactly like the Death Star fly-through in ROTJ.
The nostalgic SW music.

I really like all of J.J. Abrams films so far, but this seems pure fan service, giving them the same old.

Harrison Ford looks older than Yoda, and clearly belongs in a retirement home, not in a SW film. That was the most awful moment of the whole thing.

I am still going to see it, obviously, but I am not expecting originality.

At least GL gave us something completely fresh and expanded the SW universe beyond anyone's imagination.

Just my 2 cents.

Disney is hell.

Also: This Christmas??? SW and Christmas feels so wrong on so many levels, it's not even funny.

I was 4 years old when TPM came out. The OT was just as great and fun to me. In fact, it was more so. Kids aren't as stupid and ADD addled as people like to think.

So it's fan service to have characters that would still be alive featured in the sequel??? Sorry but I'm baffled by such strange remarks. Are the people making the same claims the ones that would "mark out" if Captain Panaka makes a surprise cameo in episode 7?
