I watched the games, that's how. Bama got beat in '09 because they didn't give a crap. Last night they got beat because Oklahoma was better.

They do. And if a conference deserves to be favored in the current system it is the SEC.

The problem I have is that in a system without a playoff favoritism ruins the entire system.

If the SEC fell off, under the BCS system it would take 5 years for anybody who matters to notice. Bad IC games? That's just quality programs rising to the challenge. Mediocre OOC across the conference? That's already been happening but nobody who matters has revised their opinion of the SEC one whiff.

And while the SEC does very well in bowls, Bowls are weird in several ways that make conference quality iffy to determine strictly from bowls. The layoff alone makes coaching (and not just the head coach) WAAAAY more important in bowls than in the regular season.

Contrary to the popular claim, the BCS system has lead to 99% of college football games being completely meaningless, rather than the opposite.

Losing Al Golden is bittersweet. I have a lot of respect for him with the way he handled the firestorm he fell into. He's an excellent recruiter and a man of class. But I don't know how far he can take us, and now we'll never know. Good luck, Al. I know this is your dream job, and I wish you the best.

This is actually true. While the BCS does cut down on the controversy (to some extent) by pitting #1 vs. #2 in the BCS it does reduce the meaning of the other bowl games. In the pre-BCS era you often entered the bowl season with several teams still having a shot at a national title since the top two rarely played on another. I believe when Miami won their first national title in 1983 they were like #5 or 6 in the polls heading into the bowl games and ending up #1.

Miami is not a stepping stone. Golden is leaving for his Alma Mater, and you can't blame him for that. This was probably the only collegiate job he would have left us for. Don't forget this is the man that has turned down UCLA, Tennessee, and Wisconsin in the past to stay at Miami where he did not know what kind of hammer the NCAA might have dropped.

Yeah it wasn't because they again didn't care lol I wouldn't if I had 3 championship rings on my finger and then was a last second victory away from the NC again. I'm not saying they didn't try, I'm saying thats a fact that is unavoidable any any team thats been that successful's psyche.

Is anyone going to say to AJ in 20 years yeah man its too bad you lost that sugar bowl to a better team or will they be talking about a 3 championship run and losing to Auburn in the final seconds right before going to their 4th championship? Nobody will care about that sugar bowl apart from Oklahoma fans just like nobody cares about that Utah loss except Utah fans

Miami is going to have to move quick to get a new coach. They've got a top 5 recruiting class right now but are going to have to work hard to keep the recruits with signing day just over a month away.

Tell that to Howard Schnellenberger. Biggest mistake he ever made. Even he admits it. Or Larry Coker, who is wasting away at some obscure university in Texas these days.

It was a joke. Kind of like this one...

Question: How long does it take to beat Bama?

Answer: A second. Maybe sooner.

See? Get it?

Three guys I wouldn't mind having as our new coach: Charlie Strong, James Franklin, and Greg Schiano. Franklin might be getting an NFL gig though.

40-24 vs Big 10
8-7 vs Pac 12.

The SEC's dominance is still obvious.

That being said, even if there is an SEC bias on ESPN/CBS/etc., it's valid. It's warranted. Yes, OU played a hell of a game last night and proved to be the much better team, but that doesn't mean the SEC isn't still the top conference. Will every SEC team beat every other team they match up against? Hell no. But our bowl/OOC/BCSNC records speak for themselves. Yes, the middle- and lower-tier teams like to share in the SEC pride because they struggle against tough SEC teams and they tend to win their OOC match-ups more often than not.

The SEC is like a closely knit family. We take pride in each other and we all bring something to the table.
Only the bottom dwellers feel that way. I'm talking about USCjr and the like.

Only losers like this pull for a conference. Fans of teams that can't win championships. The 6 schools in the SEC that are relevant don't care about the other conference members. They have teams that actually have a chance to win something.

Golden leaving is good for Miami if they make a good hire. I mean go after an offensive mind, but stay away from Chad Morris and go after Petrino or the pirate at WSU.

I, guess the days of the legendary Coachs are long gone. Will we ever see a Bobby Bowden, Joe Pa, Frank Breamer again? Breamer last of a dying breed.

He has a show-cause penalty until December 2016. So, yeah, I'd say that he's "damaged goods" right now.
