I finally manged to pick up a copy of this a couple of weeks ago.
I think the 3D was pretty well done actually, especially considering the amount of tree's and leaves which needed to be converted and are notoriously hard to do so. The movie was as I remembered it, a good popcorn action flick, worth checking out in 3D for sure. ![]() |

I had to order a copy at this price. I know some would be shocked but I'd never seen this film ever! and I figured with the so/so reviews of previous BLU editions I thought I'd go for this 3D copy even though some were surprised it got 3D treatment. I was pleasantly surprised. The 3D I thought looked really good at times and made the film a lot of fun. I hadn't laughed so much in a long time. The dialogue and guns blasting etc just seemed like it was made for horny teenage boys. was worth the 9.99! and I got a 3D slip!

Top Gun had much better depth I thought (not surprising since they had been planning to do a theatrical re-release when they ordered the conversion for that one). Predator was competently done in the sense that I didn't notice too many mistakes with leaves and such being at the wrong depth, but the deep background looked only slightly further back than the foreground, and if you take off your glasses you can confirm there's very little separation between the two images for background stuff.

No. It's the same super-DNRed transfer from the Ultimate Hunter Edition, where everyone looks like a wax figure. The 3D might distract you from the lack of detail, though.
@Cactus; I was referring to the US edition, in which the 2D disc is just a DVD. The 2D, HD version is on the 3D disc and is the UHE transfer. Lucky Swedes >.> |

Just watched this again, really enjoyed it (the at-times-severely-DNR'ed source notwithstanding). Conversionphobics need not apply because they'll see plenty of things to niggle them, but the rest of us will appreciate the surprisingly intricate layering and a good sense of depth and separation. Even during the opening credits there's more going on than simply having the credits stand out while everything is flat, like BRDC's review suggests, as there's clear delineation between the silhouettes of the guys as they get out of da choppa and when the two choppers come in to land just before that.
To be honest it's a more enjoyable 3D experience than a few theatrical conversions that I've seen lately. |

I know people love Predator the movie, it's just deserving of much stronger 3D IMO. Just put in the jungle scenes of Avatar's 3D and you'll know this is mild 3D in comparison, regardless of how the 3D was achieved. Quote:
