Honestly, I've always found the banners at the top of combo packs annoying. I like keeping my DVD with the Blu-Ray, but I find it annoying when I see those banners (especially the ones that say Blu-Ray + DVD + 3D + blah blah blah). I think they should just say it's a combo pack with a sticker on the shrinkwrap.

I think I'm almost done with this one, just need to find the remaining logos and a rating badge.
...
Nice job and great idea! I could see me replacing the original covers of the "classics" with these! I've become more and more dissatisfied with what they are doing for the standard issue versions...

My only suggestion would be to put a bigger margin between the right-hand edge of the paragraph text on the back and the spine -- maybe also pull it in a bit on the left to match the specs column below it.

Can't wait to see more!

I agree with HDmark. The text blocks on the back need to be resized a bit. Otherwise, really beautiful cover.

As for sizing for printing, I know this deviates from what most of the artists use, but I resize everything I print to 3156 x 1748 at 300 dpi. Prints out perfectly.

I've never printed a custom cover before, does anyone know the exact measurements to send to print? I will be putting them in the standard 1 or 2 disc Disney cases (Vortex?)
sorry lol but i would been more interested if this was originally created..but after searching through google images..i did find numerous images of your current cover art which is already created and just taken from google and posted here...and i hope that's also not why you've decided not to do anything or add to the cover?

A standard US BD case cover is 10.393" X 5.827".

And I thought I'd ask before it was too late: is the "invisible" border on the left and bottom edge on the front intentional?

He never claimed that the image was an original piece. His use of the term "concept art" already implied that the artwork was made by Disney during the film's production. And I don't see why its selection impacts the cover's implied quality, since the vast majority of covers featured in this thread are often made with original poster art and other studio-produced elements.

The reason for not adding a new background is, as he said, to maintain a specific aesthetic ("I'd like them to stay as simple as possible"). Your last remark doesn't make very much sense, to be honest.

my last remark was made to simply question on if he really created any of this on his own or if he just took it from somewhere and used the whole thing to claim as his...and the questioning for not adding anything also having to do with just that if he did take it and didnt create any of this then does he really have any creating experience with this cover to add/remove anything

re: Branden

I'm not really sure what you're talking about either. I never claimed to have created the individual pieces of art work, I have carefully fit all of the pieces together in a way that I find aesthetically pleasing.
The artwork is all concept art, sketches and paintings done by Disney during production of the film. I did not, as you suggested, just copy the whole product from somewhere else and claim it to be my original work.
The final product is very much my own work.

Here is a version with a background included. You can see that it clutters it up more than the style I am going for.

To everyone who's helped with specs and suggestions, thanks! I'll work on it a bit more this weekend!

Having been frustrated with the "eco-friendly" cases for the Futurama Blu-rays, I decided to do my first scan.

I scanned in Volumes 5 and 6 (don't have 7) @600dpi, then resized them to 300dpi. Started cleaning it up nicely, because the shipping from US to Denmark kicked the crap out of them. Then I resized the artwork to fit a normal Blu-ray covers, as the cardboard slipcovers were higher than a cover. Coming of short around the edge, roughly about 100 pixels on the sides, I recreated and extended of the design they used.

After the restoration, I decided to use my own specs templete for Fox, including new working barcodes. And luckily, I had HQ stills of the very two stills used on the backs, so I switched them out as well. And changed the back composition just a tiny bit.

If you want these, please pm me. Also if you have Volume 7 and a scanner, please pm me. I could use scans to create the seventh cover as well.

i really do like that background tho...it adds more to the cover instead of just a front cover that's empty..and it doesn't make it crowded either...

This was sorta done back in the DVD days but the guy who was making them stopped after like 5 or 6 films and those of us that were printing and using them had to eventually throw them away. Good concept though, although does not so much good for others unless the person creating them is going to do all the films in the given series/theme etc. Keep up the good work!

Fantastic artwork you have chosen to use, don't think Disney ever would have used this. But love your work.

Those are pretty interesting. Do you have pictures for all (at least Snow White thru Atlantis)

are we allowed to post pictures of our finished products, like another members artwork that we printed out and put into a case or made into a slipcover?

As long as you don't try and claim it as your own work it's fine.

All these Disney art-style ones are so pretty! I hope we get a full collection eventually. I especially love the Snow White concept art one - simple but elegant.
