Still that desert location and setting will always remind people of Tattooine.

I think an Earth like planet wouldn't work anyway in films with multiple planets involved, people need a clear distinction between them. Even Interstellar did the same.

I was just wondering if the desert locations were another in a long line of uniclimes.
Oh yeah, I have no problem with it either. I think it suits the fantastical nature of this series.

Plus, if they had Earth-like planets, there would barely be a need for multiple planets anymore since they'd get a bit of Tatooine, Hoth, Endor, Coruscant, etc. all in one.

Very excited to see all of that. I don't care how old the original cast is, it's going to be amazing having them on screen again. I hope they're able to use a lot of them throughout the whole trilogy. I predict
[Show spoiler]Han dies in this one & it's a real tear-jerker.

The original saber battles are good (especially Empire's Luke vs Vader), but Return's final saber battle choreography felt a little uninspired when compared to Maul's intense fight, with mostly left side, right side hits back and forth for a good portion of the fight.
it may have been exciting, but from a swordsman's point of view it was basically lightsaber baton twirling

I know I am in the minority, but as happy as I am to see the old cast again and glad they are a part of it, I am glad they are (likely) only supporting/bridge roles here. I am far more interested in the new characters and the progression of the story than I am in watching an aged OT cast try to be the main characters again. We don't need Expendables: Star Wars Edition.

Han and Chewie's moment in the trailer was cool, but was probably the part of the trailer I was least excited about. That in NO way means I didnt like it - I loved it - but I just loved many other moments far more.

It's called a desert planet in this article:
Quote:

"The pivotal moment when the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet on the Outer Rim. Taking place in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor, players will experience the events that created the massive, battle-scarred landscape of Jakku shown in Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

"Meanwhile, there's word on a free downloadable level available two weeks before Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes out in theatres in December. This is set on Jakku, which we see in the recent movie trailer.

The expansion is called Battle of Jakku and will explore the moment following Return of the Jedi when the New Republic confronted Imperial holdouts on the previously unseen Outer Rim enclave."

[Show spoiler]Star Wars: The Force Awakens will certainly be released on 3D Blu-ray by Disney. The question is... will they in the United States?

I would guess so. Disney has put out most of the Marvel releases in 3D on Blu-ray and might consider this to have a similar marketability. Why they have abandoned it for their direct live-action films and animated productions (while continuing support for some other releases) is another question. Perhaps this will relate to what LucasFilm wants. Maybe Marvel pushes for the 3D home media releases to still occur in the US?
i believe the first SW has infact been rendered in 3d, whether disney releases it? who knows. the prequels have been rendered in 3d, and believe ep3 was shown at Celebration. well it was supposed to be.

Yep, and Timothy Zahn should get some major compensation for it, too.

Which novel is it? It sounds familiar but I can't remember the names.

Do you also assume someone is angrily yelling at you in a loud party when they're simply trying to get your attention over all the noise?

Just a something to ponder.

I always thought they scrapped the conversions, but apparently they were finished and just scrapped the releases.
right, from what I have heard, Disney are keeping more than an arms length from the prequels, they are lining to the originals. so unlikely,

Well hopefully IGN is wrong about certain characters being related...they may be getting that speculation from the EU novels to begin with.
