The only problems I see are the standard caveats with those labels you stick on discs. Labels have been known to unbalance discs, or the glue reacts with the surface of the disc over time and makes it unreadable. A rule of thumb with recordable discs is: If you want a disc to fail, apply a label to it. I have found that to be true. I wouldn't risk it. YMMW.

After resting for a month or so I decided I needed to get back to work on "Midway" with the release date fast approaching.
I need some help as I struggle with the back cover. I like to include some stills usually but cannot for the life of me figure out how to fit them. One idea is to rework the "rogues gallery" at the top and move them to the side (as I did with Eastwood and Burton in "Where Eagles Dare") and fit the synoposis down the side, but still working out the details. I personally hate the TT...and the front just looks well - horrible. I love the artwork but it doesn't fit a cover. The more I look at it the more I consider breaking my own rule (i.e. using the theatrical poster) and building something different from scratch. As always comments and suggestions are welcome. Here is the WIP: ![]() EDIT: Did some further work on the back: ![]() Last edited by DrrnHarr; 05-18-2013 at 03:39 PM. |

OK...well I am keeping the theatrical release poster, but modified it by removing the TT from the image itself and adding a couple extra fighter planes, and created a TT that is a little less gawdy than the TT used in the poster:

Awhile back, I put together some covers for my Lord Of The Rings extended blu-rays to match the old book style of the DVDs. I'm thinking of creating a new set based on some of the teaser posters. I got the idea because I really like the DVD cover art for The Hobbit:
[Show spoiler] So I want to create some covers using these posters: [Show spoiler] I couldn't find a good one for Two Towers, so I may just use this one from the slipcover of the Best Buy release of The Hobbit: [Show spoiler] I'll probably try to zoom out a little on the picture of Frodo; the rest are close-up shots, but Frodo's feels like an extreme close-up. Also, I'll probably place the movie titles below the characters' faces, rather than above them. |

Speaking of the official cover being bad - the official cover features a battleship that did not participate in the Battle of Midway, and indeed could not have since it hadn't even been built yet when the battle was fought. |

Working on something brand-new for Star Wars.
Let me take you through how these came to be... First of all, I needed my 'hero shots' and came up with these six. ![]() After I removed their useless lightsabers and retouched them, I needed some nice backgrounds. ![]() Not quite happy with IV not being in the same style as the others, I then had to try something different. I also had to remove parts of Yoda and Luke's legs in the background of V. ![]() Now I added some new lightsabers and fixed the back of V by coloring and cloning out Luke's legs and parts of Yoda. I did some Lucasing and edited out the two suns on the back of VI. Also did a new background for IV, by taking the shot of Luke watching out on the horizon and contract it. I used this nice shot: ![]() Now, for the final part, I needed to install the TT I wanted to use along with my movie titles. ![]() With the last part, I added some of the characters surrounding colors on themselves, to make it appear as if they were really standing there, and cut out from elsewhere. --- So, when I realized that all character shots of Luke for V and VI were useless, I had to create my own. For V I used the Dagobah shot and added another head. ![]() VI is whole other story. No character shots were of useful quality, so I did what I didn't wanna do, but it turned out very nice. I used an action figure and added a headshot of Luke. ![]() --- Now I really feel I created something new for Star Wars. And now on to the backs! |
