Before I had them stacked in the back corner about 7-8ft from me. The other night I wanted to try something different so I left 1 in the back corner angled in the corner but 7" from the wall and moved the other up front to the right angled in a tiny corner. So now the one up front is prolly 12-13ft maybe haven't measured it yet. I haven't dialed them in yet was debating if I should try level match or gain match.

Edit: Tom do you have a preference over Gain or Level matching? With 1 XS30 being farther away would it have the potential to run out of steam at higher levels by doing "level matching?" It's hard for me to keep them equidistant when separating them.

I may be camping out in front of your shop waiting for them to be available

These will be replacing the subs listed below in my game room.

I was just browsing Audioholics and noticed they have a preview of the new $8600 Funk Audio 18.2 dual 18 inch sealed sub with 9600 watts of power.

Here are CEA2010 numbers provided by Funk Audio (I summarized them)

20-32hz 116.6
40-63hz 125.1

Here are the CEA2010 numbers provided by PSA for the Triax:

20-31.5hz 116.4
40-63hz 127.1

All of the performance of the Funk audio for less than a third of the price!!!

I *think* I read somewhere that those Funk numbers do not include any compensation for driver orientation.

http://www.data-bass.com/data?page=content&id=77

I'm almost positive we added Josh Ricci's triple driver compensation file to our data already. This adds about 2dB across the board iirc.

So to compare our stuff to Funk, either add 2dB to his, or subtract 2dB from ours.

I believe we both use 2m rms. so that should be the only compensation needed.

I'd probably just stick with basic level matching here. The DSP on the XS30 will allow it to remain composed even if it approaches max limits occasionally.

Add a single Triax to the duals and you're set for life..

Before I saw your reply I did try a gain match last night. I shot for 85dB on each sub. The furthest one 12' put it at bout 70dB from MLP. The closets one 7' was around 80-81. When I went to run AudXT32 the combine output with the mic was reading 84 on the setup screen. After Aud it set the sub trim at -8 & LPF of LFE at 100hz. Aud put the sub distance at 10' which seems bout right from one at 7 and other 12' and divided by those would be 9.5' so 10 is close. Played a few scenes, I could never pinpoint the furthest sub but the closer one I was able to at times slightly. I could tell I lost a few dB since they were no longer co-located in the back corner.
I remembered that some time you mentioned that the DSP on the subs would prevent them from really hitting max to protect, so in the back of my head I was thinking level match would be ok.

Haha.. 1 Triax with my dual 30s maybe I'll start to see the house flex from the outside. lol.. The Triax would fit superb in the back corner then move 1 XS30 behind my seat and leave the other 30 up front.. PURE MADNESS!

Just a heads up, someone from Kentucky is inquiring on AVS if there is anyone looking to sell their dual XS30/xv30 systems. So you could end up with dual Triax instead. That would be similar to having an additional two XS30s stacked on each one of your XS30s now(6 xs30 total).

Just make sure the home owners policy is up to date...

BTW----being from Kentucky are you a big wildcat fan? Should the Cavs be looking at that center #1?

Geeze 6 XS30s to equal the dual Triax.. Would have to invest in Subwoofer Home Owners Insurance.

Yea big UK fan. Noel was only getting better as UK season went on till his injury. He was really starting to become dominate in games and a more offensive threat. He is really great at blocks. He can get up an down the court fast and really hustles. He'll need some more offensive weapons in the NBA but he is a pure athlete. UK was really hurting after he was injured. I don't see him being a flop at all plus Kyrie will love throwing oops to him since Noel will run the floor.

Tom do you or Jim have a HT setup at home and which subs do you use in your own setups if so? Quad Triax? lol

Actually we've been so busy we haven't even had a chance to just sit back and enjoy a few films lately. We tend to have an ever changing system around us as we try different sub/speaker designs out.

I don't see them taking Noel for a couple reasons. Development time. Cavs are making noise about the "rebuilding" being done....no more lottery. Next is the same ACL on the same knee....twice. And 206 pounds? More of a 2-3 year down the road type. I hope they can make a trade, if not, Porter(georgetown). Cavs have 4 of the first 33 picks so I'm guessing 2 or 3 will be traded for another #1 next year. If you aren't rebuilding, no need to draft 4 rookies that high..

BTW, we will be putting up a new XV30(down firing) on the outlet center soon. It has a *tiny* imperfection in the finish right next to the amp plate(rear of the subwoofer).

5% off, $1329 delivered. Brand new unit.

Please email me if you want *dibs* before we post it on the website tonight, thanks.

I was just reading other day that they would prolly be more incline to take Porter first since he would be the quicker fit. Didn't realize they had 4 first round picks. What day is the draft on, I don't ever keep up with draft days.

I think the draft is after the finals, not sure though.

They have 2 firsts(1, 19?) and two of the top three seconds(31,33).

I could see getting Porter at 1 and then trading the other 3 for a non protected first. Plus they could take on a lot of salary too from someone needing to get under the lux tax. I follow it as time allows which isn't much lately..

So much rides with KI staying healthy which is scary.

Also, back on topic..

We are cleaning out the office now that the Triax is finalized. We'll have the XV30 and a XS30 available for b-stock if anyone is interested. Both look/function like new....just office time comparing each one to the Triax at different times.

That chart has all the 2010-CEA output data normalized for all subwoofers to the same * 2 meter ground plane, rms(not peak), drivers facing the mic*.

If anyone wants to compare these output numbers to the * 1 meter, peak* values manufacturers often use in their marketing(because they are so much higher/impressive) you need to add 9dB to everything.

We'll update the chart with these notes and add more products as time allows. We are sourcing all of the data from third party measurements of course.

I like the 2 Meter ground plane the best, the in room extension for the HSU VTF-15 seems to high.

Here's the chart.

http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/s...h-measurements

A little below these third party measurements is the manufacturer's FR chart which matches up very closely. This is with the unit in max output mode which is also how they measured its 2010-CEA output on the chart.
