we don't have to accept EVERYTHING. that's a ridiculous thought. we can accept the first 3 and reject the later 3 if we want. I don't have to like EVERY picture from my favorite artist. I can pick and choose what I think is valuable. same with star wars. I pick and choose which ones were good and which ones were trash. simple as that.

Call it ridiculous, but he does have a point on who claims ownership of the franchise. The man who created it, or the fanbase it has spawned over the years. I would like the unaltered trilogy as much as the next person (even if some of the changes do benefit the movies, like fixing certain SFX flaws), but up until recently, the movies were Lucas'. Now it's Disney's say (and probably Fox's since distribution rights and all that) if they should release an unaltered trilogy.

A fan doesn't have to hate the original trilogy in general. He or she might hate the first two, but still like Sith. He or she might hate the expanded universe, but still enjoy the Clone Wars animated series. Don't think that a fan of a series has to conform to a strict set of unwritten rules made by a single person online.

I haven't paid attention to the EU. Because they're not canon. Just fan fiction to me. I want official.

And regardless of who owns Star Wars now, it really is George's thing. And nobody, not even an angry bitter nerd living in his mother's basement, can take that away from him.

Simply, I'm A Star Wars fan. I watch and accept all 6 films as they are, I don't keep whining and complaining and wish for what was in the past for the films. Original Trilogy or Special Editions, either way is fine. I just want Star Wars. If one should complain about that same topic over and over, rehashing the same issues over and over, why keep watching? Just quit watching them then, dont buy the home releases, dont go see them in 3D, etc.

Here's a thought that just crossed my mind. Any shot that LucasFilm could get the rights to Princess Mononoke so that it can finally be released in North America again?

Mirimax is no longer with Disney and they were the ones who handled Princess Mononoke.

Agreed ... I didn't see Star Wars until 6th grade ... I was born in 84 .. been to the midnight release of every film since I've been alive (SE, prequels, Clone Wars, and TPM 3D) and I know I'm a true fan!!!!

He is a very astute businessman - he sold his company, that he built from the ground up, to a huge multi-national business for over $4 billion. That, whichever way you look at it, is a very sharp business person.

He wouldn't do anything of the sort. He's a businessman first and then a director. He knows how much that original cut would have been worth and - to be honest - probably began a rumour that it had been sliced without preservation so that there would be more demand for it in the long term. He's a clever man, is George.

+1. I'm a Star Wars fan through and through, and always will be. I'm not the biggest fan of Lucas and believe he made some critical mistakes, but, at the end of the day, it was his creation and he could act how he wanted towards it. I will continue to enjoy SW until the day I die and, if the new ones come out and are terrible, it won't affect the enjoyment of the old ones for me.

then I guess I must not be a star wars fan like I thought. I'm a star wars eps 4,5 and 6 pre special edition fan, but NOT a fan of eps 1-3, the clone wars etc. funny me, I guess I don't deserve to be weeded out
