Sampled the remastered Blu-ray disc after receiving this in the mail today. I wouldn’t have noticed the yellow tint if I weren’t comparing it with screencaps from the previous release, and that’s even with my display set to ‘Warm 2’.

My copy of First Blood skips around like a son of a *****. I've encountered this issue with many UHDs and frankly it's beginning to piss me off. Nothing worse than settling in for a movie and I can't watch it because it only plays in 2-second bursts

There is a mild teal leaning to this one. I noticed it. TV is calibrated, lights off in a room with walls that are a perfect grayscale color (mixed according to online color database). However, I don't find it bothersome at all. It is very mild. I just notice the teal tint to things like denim jeans.

Only had time to watch some 40 minutes on First Blood but I found the PQ very good, with however minor fluctuances in brightness (blacks were lessened from great to ok on my Samsung KS 7000 65" EU model 8005), not sure if related to the UHD or my TV and its HDR capabilities. But the poor subtitles actually disturbed me alot more than the somewhat varying PQ as it was just in some particular scenes, and those may be shot that way originally?

Edit: seeing the rest of First Blood only a few incorrect/lazy subtitles were found. Highly recommended and must say the film impressed me more than ever. And that is good as the French UHD Steelbook is my 8th Rambo BD and UHD case in my Rambo collection
The subtitles are horrible all the way across the trilogy. Not to mention that the Russian dialog in Part 3 is only translated half the time, and only comes on with subtitles set to off. WTF.

What kind of UHD player do you have? have you upgraded the firmware? the discs are probably fine there is something going on with your player (could be defective or have a laser lens issue with UHD). Call the manufacturer of your player for support this is definitely a defect.

Forgive the silly question as I've not been a long-term admirer of Rambo III but is every piece of Russian dialogue supposed to be subtitled? I get the feeling that sometimes you don't need to know what they're saying as it's fairly self explanatory what they're doing.

If I remember correctly, there’s only a few lines. I got the previous remaster from Scandinavia, and it didn’t have the Russian subs in English, but as it was only a few lines, I didn’t mind. I chose to have the film uncut over having a few Russian lines translated with English subs, and I couldn’t handle that UK grenade packaging, which was the only way to get the previous remaster with English subs I believe, but they cut the 3rd film.

I always shrugged 3 off as a stupid action movie that wasn’t all that good, after watching 3 on UHD I think it’s a stupid action movie that is very solid. The pacing is excellent.

I get that, and I can live with what's on the UHD as I also had the uncut German Blu-ray that didn't have any English subs for the Russian dialogue at all. What I'm aksing is whether it was always the case that every single line of Russian was subtitled? Rambo III superfans, it's over to you!

I'm still waiting for Bullmoose to ship these and I'm actually most excited to watch Part 3. I haven't revisited these movies in ages but when I was a kid Rambo 3 was always my favorite. Can't wait to find out if I was a pretty smart kid or just a complete dumb ass.

After tons and tons of testing I'm 90% sure the Sony's issue is just being VERY sensitive to dust, smudges and scratches. Like it has a finicky laser or something. If I clean these they might work. I think the review for Rambo 2 on here even mentions having to do that. My LG player plays everything I throw at it though.

My Sony won't play Wonder Woman no matter what I do though, even after trying like 5 copies. That is SUPER weird.
If I remember right. You have an X800. I've had mine since day one. I've only ever had one disc that was a problem. A DVD of Emergency!. It locked up the player and required a cord pull. Otherwise, zero problems and I use it a ton. Handles dust and light scratches fine. I think you just got a bad player.

I just bought all the Rambo movies during Black Friday.

I grew up with them in the 80s but haven’t seen them probably since then.

It’s funny how growing up your movie tastes can change. I used to think First Blood was incredibly boring as a kid. I also thought Rambo II was awesome. Now upon rewatching the first two my tastes have done a 180. I thought the first movie was a good character oriented movie that makes you relate to John Rambo. Part II... straight up 80’s cheese now ( I’m trying, though, to still enjoy it for what it is).

Blasted through all three of these over the last couple of days. Overall, I'm pretty pleased. I assume they're the same Studio Canal discs from across the pond, just with Lionsgate's name plastered all over the packaging (SC's logo appears during playback)?! I feel like I noticed a lot of Studio Canal's Trademark Flickering®.

Anywho. I've always found 3 to be just okay, but as with so many UHD discs, I found myself enjoying the movie far more than ever before, due to the presentation. These were good fun to revisit on the format. Now that I'm 3 Movies in, looks like I'll have to settle for the BD of part 4, as part of my current marathon. Getting stoked for Rambo: Last Blood!

I watched FB part II yesterday and actually didn't notice any issues with subtitles. Have you or anybody else spotted any goofs on FB part II?

For the PQ I was again happy, as I was with First Blood. And this time with part II didn't see any flickering as compared to what I think I saw in First Blood (just some very minor flickering that was happening in lower quality scenes). The title and pre-credits have a green hue that luckily gets masked when the film starts. The green jungle is finally having proper colors with more detail and depth. Though the best detail is only found in close ups, many being impressive. However I spotted that here are a few scenes in the jungle that suffers from a bit of poor colors, contrast and even a bit of less details, like a filter have been applied on them reducing PQ. Shame as those last moments with Rambos Vietnamese partner are some of my all time favourite scenes. Maby they used different camera equipment in the middle of the film and then applied some filter etc to try to mask inconsistencies?

Oppo. I've sent in for a replacement - if the problem repeats then I'll know it's probably my player. I'm thinking it's just a disc from a bad batch.

Even Oppo players can have problems your disc drive could have a defect possibly. It happens. I was going to suggest to use a cd/dvd laser lens cleaner and see if it helps but not sure if you have player still or not. UHD discs shouldn't freeze like that I have an Oppo 203 and have not had any problems with UHD discs and I keep firmware updated and try not to leave disc drawer open for very long. I always make sure the discs are clean and no dust or debris. Somethings buggy on yours for some reason hope they pinpoint the problem if you sent it in for service.

Thanks. I've never had too much faith in lens cleaners but I'll contact Oppo and ask for their input. I've read that these products may actually cause more problems than they help. I do tend to leave the disc drawer open for extended periods, though, and I'm trying not to do that. The player has been acting buggy in other ways too. Sometimes the disc drawer won't close no matter how many times I press the button. Too bad Oppo is going out of business - they're awesome in the customer service dept.
