If it does, hopefully I’m long gone mate.

And it's still broadcast on live TV (as you pointed out). The idea that it will soon forgo that is just wild speculation on your part with no basis in fact.

Well, to be fair Amazon have just snapped up some bank holiday rights and the Ifollow service has shook things up at the lower end. Streaming is absolutely going to play a much bigger part when the next rights auction happens in 2022.

On TVs.

On a side note, I like soccer better than American football EXCEPT for the fact that a game can end in a tie. I can not spend hours watching ANY game that can end without a clear victor. I feel the same way about Boxing On Ice (Hockey). Seems utterly pointless to me.

What a novel idea! Who woulda thunk such things were possible?

Football without all the body armor and standing around in endless huddles. I clarified my previous post to be more understandable abroad.

A desktop can easily be hooked up to a TV. Many tablets and phones can also be hooked up to a TV.

I said the same thing yesterday and I didn't get any love for it!

"You also fail to consider that the NFL and other leagues can make multiple agreements as to how and where their games are viewed."

Very true. However when people have tried, it is blocked. If you mean with a HDMI cable, that has been done but it’s sometimes jerky and poor quality picture. I think that’s the only way to do things at the moment. I don’t think that is an especially reliable way of doing things. If you are talking phones rather than laptops, that puts the phone out of use for 90 minutes so seems a rubbish option also.

Dont forget, far less people ha e a desktop than years ago.

Sports will always be watched mainly on big screens. Especially football. People plan whole weekends around getting together, drinking beer and watching the game. It's a social event.

I've never had a problem hooking up any of my tablets, laptops, or desktops to my TVs via HDMI.
Off topic but do you think the coming streaming movement for games will affect the sales of desktops. It seems there will be no need to have the best, most up to date system if you can just stream games with a decent connection.

I don't game on PC anyway due to it all being downloads and/or having terrible DRM, so I don't really care if PC gaming switches from downloads to streaming. I'll stick with physical media on consoles regardless.

While I seldom play anything on my ancient consoles: PS3, Wii, and the original first edition Xbox 360- with an HD-DVD drive to boot, I do play computer games. I have not had any issues with DRM in many years.

I certainly appreciate the content ownership argument, but nothing has gotten in the way of my playing any of my nearly 300 installed computer games. My self built computer can still run almost any game out there, but not in 4K. I could stand to upgrade my video card, but none of my current games require that I do so.

If the upcoming PS5 has improved VR and a 4K disc drive, it will be my first new console in well over a decade.

As you might recall, about 80% of those games were gifts. Even my Netflix subscription is a gift!

My computer professional friends get them for me because they want me to play with them. The ones I buy are usually those silly little indy games that cost about $10, even less. I have not bought any games in over a year, maybe two, but I have been given some.

I recognize the conflict/ hypocrisy here and if I acquire a PS5 I will buy physical games for it.

Why haven't you bought a PS4 already?

I want VR that is full high definition; I want to try out 3D movies with it, not just games. I would also prefer that it work as a back-up 4K disc player and Sony omitted that functionality, oddly enough for a company that simultaneously promotes the 4K disc format.
