was it the story that you despise most i'm guessing? "it tries to be important but fails on almost every level" wow jhiggy, let's not hold back now
i thought it was a very thought provoking film that worked on almost every level, especially the performances.

I can understand why you'd think it'd be the story (i.e.

that is bothersome to me, but I can assure you it's not. I watched the film completely separate from my beliefs on the matter, which are not particularly strong either way. My issue is the emotional connection. I found it troublesome that there's no reason explained for the choice she makes, which significantly reduces the emotional connection to her and her experience. I'd have to revisit my review of the film to see what else specifically bothered me. That being said, I am glad you enjoyed it though, especially to the extent that you did.

Completely agreed. That said, in the case of this movie it works for me whereas I'm not the biggest romantic-comedy fan, in fact I'm more likely to not like one or not even see it then find one I enjoy. But in this case, the combination of Bullock and Reynolds makes the movie pretty stinking funny and enjoyable for me

I gave it a 4.25/5
agreed. i think Bullock did a phenomenal job, and while Reynolds was pretty typical Reynolds, he was also great - as always imo - and i think the movie would have been horrible if they had two other main leads not nearly as good as these two. they really made the movie what it was.

reynolds ability to make me laugh at simple lines of dialogue always astounds me: "thank you, i am now 100 years old"

hmm, interesting that it wasn't the main story line. but kind of glad as well, because after the film ended i thought, "man. i wonder how many people will turn this off at the 45 minute mark once they know what is going on". but glad that you finished it and were able to set aside what you think of the topic. i myself also don't fall way on one far of the line of "agreeing" or "disagreeing", so i could also separate it.

ironically enough, your main issue was the one qualm that i had. but for me, it didn't effect it, but i do wish they would have covered why this was the choice. but maybe if they did then the audience would have sat and thought about ways around that instead of watching the film? although without telling us why, people were probably sitting, not focused on the film and wondering "why are they do this?" double edged sword i guess.

Reynolds has some of the best comedic timing/skills that I've seen. The guy can make me laugh at almost anything. That line you mentioned was one of the funniest in the movie. In addition to his "singing"

Yea, that was hilarious.

I also laughed pretty hard at Bullock singing,

I'll have to add it to the "Hey, I need to DVR that when I see it on the schedule!" list

Are you sure you don't want to raise that 3/5?

haha i was actually just thinking that. as a film and how it's made i would probably give it a 3/5, but out of enjoyment, maybe it would go up in score. although we could probably sit here and talk about almost anything and make us want to raise some scores

i was debating if i wanted to start a "Ryan Reynolds" shelf for his blus (although i think right now i own none, sad ) and this would have to be on it but not for the $26 amazon is asking

although i think i do have a "worst ryan reynolds movie", which would be Smokin' Aces. i remember i was really let down by that. but i might re-rent it and try it again now that i know what to expect.
