FSU fan. Glad we won and what a great comeback.

Not sure if anyone has seen, but Auburn was stealing plays, so that is why for the first half and the first drive of the 2nd Auburn DB's and pass rush just looked flat out dominant unlike what they were for the season. FSU put towels up and well end of story.

Did you ever wonder how Auburn's suspect secondary was able to cover Florida State's four NFL-bound receivers and tight end so well for the first seven drives of the game? The Tigers held Florida State to just 156 yards on 33 plays through the first half of the ballgame.

It was as if Auburn knew Florida State's routes in the first half.

Florida State certainly believed the Tigers did. And after the first drive off the second half, ESPN's cameras capture audio appearing to come from receiver Kelvin Benjamin, shouting at and over a discussion between Jameis Winston and Jimbo Fisher. "Dameyune [Craig] calling [out] all the plays," the audio says. Craig, of course, coached for Fisher from 2010 to 2012 before leaving for Auburn.

In response, Jimbo Fisher's offense used towels to shield the playcalls from Auburn.

After Benjamin shouts that, Florida State runs 30 plays for 229 yards. Its yards-per-play increased by about 75-percent, more commensurate with the highest scoring offense in college football history.

Glad to have another FSU fan here. I read this early today, Jimbo is lucky we won because there was no excuse on not hiding the signals or changing them. I just watched the game again, and there DB's were damn near running the route like they knew what was coming. Anyway just glad we won.

Yeah, I usually only frequent the Movies/TV section of the Forum. I only discovered this by hitting Google to see if there would be a Blu-ray release of the game/season and found this thread.

But yes, Jimbo is very lucky. I guess he had too much trust in Craig not to do this because he put towels up against Miami. I thought something was going on while watching because Auburn's DB's like you said were step for step with our WR's who are all going to the NFL. This reminds me of the Clemson game in 2012 when they got up early and then we put towels up and game over.

more info here.

there is some info (more like rumor) that Rick Neuheisel's name has come up as a potential interviewee as well. i don't know how true this is, though.
How does this happen. I mean seriously, how does this loser keep getting quality jobs when he ****s up every prior position he's held?

I don't think the towels had anything to do with that game. KO return, EJ balling and Tajh forgetting how to run the O led to that.

if he were to get the oc job at 'BAMA, he'd be on a pretty short leash. Coach Saban has never let his assistants do interviews without his consent and without him telling them what they are allowed to say and what questions they are allowed to answer (same reason he doesn't allow freshmen to talk to the media except during sec championship games or bowl games when it's mandatory).

the whole time Jim McElwain was there i only saw 3 interviews he gave. and i only saw Doug Nussmeier give just a couple.

Coach Saban runs a fairly tight ship.

Damn, Lane must have awesome interviews. I never seen a guy get fired and upgrade as must as Lane. Next thing you know he will be Head coach in waiting.

Lane Kiffin did many things well at USC. To wit...

He lead USC to a 10-2 record in 2011 with a new coaching staff and Monte Kiffin as his DC. That is no small feat. That same year, he delivered an epic ass-whipping to fUCLA, 50-0, the same team which went to the CCG that year representing the Pac-12 South.

Kiffin oversaw a recruiting effort, which two years into the 2nd-most severe sanctions in NCAA history, fielded a team that earned 10 wins, all the while having inherited a roster which was already down in numbers and deficiently recruited in several key positions, most notably the offensive and defensive lines.

There is no doubt that Lane Kiffin was overmatched at USC on game day in his role as both OC and HC. Also, he did not excel in other HC responsibilities, such as dealing with the media and in inspiring his players (his players were loyal, but not inspired).

If Alabama hired Lane to be both HC and OC, I am 100% confident that he would fail again. But Bama hired him to be an OC, a position which will shield him from the things that he does not do well. I expect that Kiffin will be heavily involved in coordinating Alabama recruiting, something which Saban does not enjoy. And Kiffin will run the offense, something which he has been successful doing when he has had talented offensive players (as he will have at Bama), like he did at USC 2004-2006. Not every OC who coaches talented players does as well as Kiffin has done over his career.

Saban and Kiffin are a really good match, each offering something that the other lacks or doesn't want to do, so I can see why Saban hired Kiffin. Kiffin has one of the better resumes among pro-style OCs. I will be interested to see if it works out in 2014 and beyond, or not.

I wish nothing but the best luck to Lane Kiffin in his new position.

I can't wait for his return to Knoxville. The 3rd Saturday in October should be extra special with him coming back. Law enforcement be warned now.

As someone who wants to see Alabama knocked down a peg for a while, hiring Kiffin makes me super happy.

They've all but guaranteed their offense will underperform for years to come.

I think he will be a very successful coordinator under King Saban's watchful eye.

Says the person who gives him credit for going 10-2 at USC.

USC is supposed to consider 10-2 a terrible year, and it's sad they've been reduced to that being good.

If Saban is that watchful, why bother hiring a name OC at all?

Saban is one to let his coordinators do their thing. He feels being a head coach is two jobs as is.
